9 enter and 4 remain. Still not brilliant but much better than previous years

Chris really needs to work on his backhand. Even if he just develops a steady slice backhand and then every now and again goes for the big drive, he misses it sometimes by a mile.

On the other hand his forehand sometimes is HUGE!

Forgot to add, well done Chris. brilliant result.

Thsi year improves on last year when we had 2 through. If the women keep on building we should improve on that again next year.

That should see Eaton into the top 400. If he can somehow get past Tursunov he'll be on the verge of the top 300.

Finger's crossed, Chris can do 'a Chardy' and out of nowhere go seriously deep in his home slam. Although, Chardy was already in the top 150 and I know it's unlikely but we can live in hope.

That has to be the result of the day for the Brit's. Well done to Eaton. Truly deserved after coming through qualifying. Could be the start of a good career and you could see how much he wanted it. Superb.thumbsup.gif

Chris will rise to WR 400-410 with this-from 29 ranking points up to 75 (I think).

And get a rather large rise in his annual income.

Here's to R2!

Fabulous win, I know we more or less expected him to win unless he cracked with nerves but to do it in straight sets and stay so cool - brilliant!

I think that'll push him up about 250 places from where he is now to around 407 and he'll be GB no. 7.

Of course, the Wimby points now make up about 60% of his total points, so he'll either be inspired by this and push on over the summer and autumn or the PTDs will become a millstone round his neck come next year and he'll end up retiring. I hope he's an exception to the usual rule, not least because I love watching him play! smile.gif

Not such a shock for the people who post on this forum, coz we know our tennis lol. but im sure most people at the bbc are rubbing their eyes with disbelief, the best thing about eaton is that he is so young and has bundles of time to improve.

Wow that was exciting, nice one Chris. Do you think he could give AM some tips on second-serving?

If Murray had Eaton's serve he would have already made a slam final
