Week 26 - The Championships, Wimbledon: R1 men's singles matches

Boggo is the first Brit male to enter the lists in SW19:  his match against Simone Bolelli is the second on Court 11 tomorrow. No head-to-head, as they've never played one another before.  Fingers crossed & pray.gif hard...!

bolelli also won a match back in 03, when alex retired.

worryingly then they are yet to see a match to completion

Serves me right for relying on the ATP site, I suppose! redface.gif  Perhaps they count only completed matches in their head-to-head? confuse.gif

They only count Tour/Masters/Slam/DC main draw matches, I think.

yeah the atp can be a bot dodgy. i often checl tennisinsight.com, its defianlty the best place on the web for tennis stats, but it doesnt list futures results in players activity so you have to check itf. it does list qulaies tho, unlike atp.

What rubbish matches they have on courts 1 & 2 tomorrow, you'd think they could find something better than that. If I was going, I think I'd camp out on Court 11 all day - it's not even a minor show court (i.e. not 2, 3, 13 or 18), is it, yet it has 2 of the 3 Brits on it plus Safin and Mauresmo, not to mention the fact that her opponent had some notoriety value that will attract a few people to that match too.

The AELTC has produced a detailed note on how they work out the OoP at http://aeltc.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/infosheets/orderofplay.html - reading between the lines, they seem to be suggesting they're going to keep the Brits off the show courts more than they used to.

I think that the outside courts are faster than Centre and 1, no? If that is the case, it'll benefit the Brits more than others.

Court 11 has the 4th highest capacity after Centre, court 1 and court 2, so based on that I'd conclude that it's the 4th biggest court, and so matches will be put on this court ahead of 3 and 18.

Reading that info sheet does tend to suggest that the Brits won't just be put on a show court because they are British, but then that never happened anyway so there's not going to be a great deal of change - let's see how many times Murray is on centre court (every time is my guess) though as to how seriously they stick to that.

Court 1 and court 2 having poor OOP? Not sure I agree with that, as court 1 likes quite good to be honest, as Kanepi is a decent player and could test Serena, while Hewitt/Haase will be a decent match as well, and I think will go 4 sets at least, while Dancevic/Nalbandian could be a great match if Dancevic plays as well as he can (as presuming Boggo finished, I'll be watching this match given I'm a huge Nalby fan)

Court 2 isn't great though, and I think there will be 4 one sided matches there, but Centre Court has a shocking OOP for tomorrow. Yeah, it's got Federer, Ivanovic and Djokovic, but if any of there opponents get 5 games in a set I'll be surprised, and for competitve tennis and avoiding 1 sided contests it's a court to avoid (but hang on... doesn't the AELTC guide for the OOP say they try to avoid 1 sided contests on show courts....)

I'd love to see the Brits on show courts, but as long as they show court 11 on BBCi then it should be okay.... don't want to have to watch Boggo on a fuzzy picture on the laptop.

The 8 televised courts are:

Centre Court
Court 1
Court 2
Court 3
Court 11
Court 14
Court 18
And one other as Court 13 is being redeveloped and so is not in use this year.... my guess is court 19/6 based on the OOP.
