RE: Entries Week 28 - 7/7

Surprised that Bloomers and Skupski aren't playing Felixstowe as I guess it means that they're going to go to NA with Boggo and Baker, but I can't believe they wouldn't play the grass challenger here as that would be an excellent chance of points, given they'd both be in the main draw with either a WC or DE.

Maybe they'll go with Slabba to Israel?

There were byes but it's a 16 player field this time (with 3 WCs, I think) so it'll be risky for Skupski and Bloomers is not a cert, either. They'll obviously see the entry lists for that and Granby and take the decision later this week.

Of course, assuming that they're going to North America that week, in the first place. It's also possible that they're taking a break before a long trip!

I agree with you.

The problem is costs, though! Hopefully they'll win a round or more in doubles and that should fund a few trips.

wellmits a bigh risk isnt it, if they go to newport and dont get in its a really expensice week.

odd if thye dont go to manchster, as boggo and baker wont be there will be sparse on brits would migt go deep. altiugh i guess eaton will be there.

perhaps if they kept notts so it was back to back grass events more would hang around for it,

This doesn't confirm it, but makes it sort of likely that Eaton will go for Newport -

Now, for at least a month or so, the worry of whether he can afford to play an ATP tournament like next month's at Newport, Rhode Island is gone. "If I hadn't done this I wouldn't be able to look at Newport. Hopefully I can now have a schedule based on tennis rather than money," he said.

He is confident of getting into qualies, then? Or does he have a WC? Newport loves their Brits, remember. smile.gif

I'd hope at the very least the LTA could get him a qualies wildcard, if it's needed. Shouldn't be too big an ask and the "wildcard" for Spadea at Wimbledon must help.

Wang is out of granby which means better chance of Alex getting a seed.

I don't think so. I'm sure someone else can confirm it.

But they can enter that and New Haven qualies, so there'll be no shortage of match time before USO.

They can enter New Haven qualies but if they qualify they get into a Nottingham type situation where they cant play US oPen qualies

Don't think US Open qualies starts until Tuesday or Wedesday though, so they can still play, qualify, and then tank on the Monday in round 1 if they want to play US Open qualies, or win in round 1 and then miss the US Open.

As far as ranking points go, it would be pointless to tank, because you get 15 points for winning R1 in Newport, and you would have to get through all three qualifying rounds at the USO to match that. However, there's always a danger that qualifying overruns because of the weather or you qualify and the TD won't schedule your R1 match for the Monday.
