I saw the Bloomers/Skupski match, by the way, quite a subdued affair with the crowd not really getting into it (then again, it was on court 4, one of the courts with a few park benches beisde it and no other seating, so there wasn't that much of a crowd anyway.
They certainly weren't outclassed by their seeded opponents (in fact, it was all very even) and had chances to break back in the 4th, but their opponents were just that bit more solid - Ken's serve seemed to be the weakest of the four, as were Richard's groundstrokes whereas the other pair were solid on everything.
However, their opponents were using the odd tactic of firing everything at Bloomers in the net exchanges which, as the person next to me said, was a bit strange given that Bloomers was by far the better volleyer of the two Brits - as I thought when I saw his at Queen's as well, if tennis was a game where nobody was allowed to let the ball bounce, Bloomers would be top 100 for sure!

Its interesting you should say that, Ive always thought volleying was a bit of a weakness for Richard, doesnt seem all that comfortable at the net, and sort of seemed to feel obliged to volley on grass but against his better judgement type of thing.
Marovic got to deuce three or four times that last game on the Nest/ Zim serve but couldnt force a break point, augurs reasonably well, have competed pretty well up to now, 46 32 down at moment.
yeah they seem to have more luck on one of the 2 serve retun games. but to be honest i'd be very suprised if they do anyhting other than lose in 3. its just so liley that nestojic will put the pressure on at the tight end fo each set as they did already

Did he volley well?
Yes he did, both at Queen's and last night, I thought he was brilliant out of the air (i.e. serves and volleys), and the people I was watching with were saying the same (along with "isn't Skupski small") but in comparison his groundstrokes are woeful - well, something has to be for him to be ranked as low as he is.
Having said that, I seem to remember him trading groundstrokes quite well with Lleyton Hewitt at Wimby last year, but they seem to have been going out more often than in when I've seen him this year.
Perhaps MJD has more of an idea as to whether Richard feels comfortable at the net or not, but he certainly looks to me like he does.
