For the first time for God knows how long (though I've no doubt someone will put me wise, sooner or later! ), we have a Briton seeded for the men's doubles in SW 19: take a bow, Jamie Murray & Max Mirnyi (surprise, surprise!), who enter the lists at N° 14. Fingers firmly crossed for them & the five all-British WC pairs, Aucks & Delgo, Bamfs & Goody, Bloomers & Skups, Boggo & Jonny Marray & last, but not least, Chris Eaton & Slabba.

And to Ross Hutchins and Stephen Huss who also made the cut and so didn't need a WC.

From the site:
Please check back the week of 27 June for the Mixed Doubles draw.
* Bit of an odd statement, given that 27th June is a Friday! Still, after the shambles surrounding the awarding of the wild cards, I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised!
** I posted this extract from an article in last Friday's Times, giving a few thoughts on Jamie's strengths from a potential mixed doubles partner (& someone who presumably knows what she's talking about! ), on the Queen's doubles thread:
Liezel Huber, a strong favourite for the doubles title [at the DFS Classic in Edgbaston] with Cara Black, said that she was expecting to partner Jamie Murray in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon after Jelena Jankovic, from Serbia, revealed that she was not prepared to risk her fitness to defend the title with Murray. Huber, the 31-year-old who was born in South Africa, but is now a United States citizen, teamed up with Murray to reach the semi-finals at last year's US Open. "I assumed we'd play the whole year because you need to build up a relationship and grass is a good surface for us, but I expect more from him than what he's achieved," she said. "We can win Wimbledon, but we'll have to work hard for every match. Some of his winners are incredible and he has a great serve, although he can be a bit too nice with the lady on the other side - he needs to crush them."
What makes me laugh about Chris Eaton is the profile pic for him on wimbledon.org and his "official" site via the 'links' button at the top of this page.
They suggest he is still a 13 year old boy, but he is now in fact a huge guy with all the stubble/ 5 o'clock shadow etc...
For this reason I'll suggest "babyface" although I tihnk Seagull's "Rifles" is a good one considering Chris's monster serve!
And H&H eventually wrap it up in four, 6-3 6-7(5) 7-5 6-2! Still unclear whether they will face Lipsky & Martin or the third seeds, Erlich & Ram, in the next round, as their match is poised at 5-7 4-6 6-3 6-3 8-8!

I see that play in the other match has been suspended for the day...!
