RE: British Women - Top 25 etc table

Next week's GB women's top 25 table is now available via the "following week" link on this week's table. Not many players in action - Elena and Katie are playing the equivalent of super-Challengers and will probably not even be seeded because the entry lists are ridiculously strong, while our biggest contingent (3) will be in Sweden, where the main draw does not start until Wednesday.

This weeks (week 44) GB Top 25 women's table is now available and both that and all of the links on the stats page have been updated with the new 2 Nov official rankings.

There were 9 new singles career highs last Monday headed by Elena at WR 86. The other 8 were the 8 players who have all hit higher career highs today - they are headed by Katie at WR 90, Jocelyn Rae at WR 481, Lisa Whybourn at WR 527, Jade Windley at WR 561 and Heather Watson at WR 588.

There were 4 new doubles career highs last Monday, headed by Wobbly at WR 248, but today's doubles rankings aren't out yet for some reason.

A 10K in Sunderland (where Jade Curtis may well be the top seed, making it quite weak for a 10K in the UK) means that more GB women than GB men are in action this week, but the most interesting event from our point of view may be the 50K+H event in Ismaning, Germany, where Katie should be seeded and Mel is taking part as well.

Because Anne's Warsaw win comes off the rankings next Monday and Elena is defending points from Ismaning 2008, Katie will be the new GB no. 1 next Monday even if she loses her first match this week, but hopefully she can do it in style by having a good run there!

Edit: there are 9 new doubles CHs for the GB women today, led by Sarah Borwell at WR 95, Wobbly at 242 and Cav at 255.

Next week's table (week 46) is now available, with quite a few players in action around the world, but masses of points to defend too.

This week's GB top 25 women's table is now available and week 47's table is finally complete as well - those tables and all of the other links on the BT.net stats page have been updated with the new 30 Nov official rankings.

There are new singles career highs for Elena (85), Heather Watson (559) and Nicola George (865) - Heather and Nicola hit new career highs a week earlier as well, as did Jade Curtis (328) and Jessica Ren (1024), who are both still in those positions.

There are new doubles career highs for Anna Smith (171), Cav (243) Amanda Carreras (532) and Ruth Seaborne (822) - three of them plus Heather Watson (584) hit career highs last week as well.

Both of our representatives in qualifying for the 25K in Australia failed to make it to the main draw, but four Brits are in the main draw for the Cuban 10K in la Habana.

The new (week 49) GB Top 25 women's table is now available and has been updated with the new (7 Dec) official rankings, as have all the other links from the BT.net stats page.

There are 4 new singles CHs, headed by Naomi Broady (327) & Lisa Whybourn (525), while Anna Smith (170) & Amanda Carreras (495) have hit new doubles CHs.

Now the winner of the greatest number of singles titles by a GB woman this year (3), Naomi Broady will be in Cuba again this week, trying to extend the 10-match winning run she has been on since coming back from a 4 1/2 month injury lay-off. She will be joined in the La Habana 10K main draw by Natasha Khan and qualifier Jennifer Allan, while the winner of the greatest number of singles and doubles titles combined by a GB woman this year, Amanda Carreras, is likely to be seeded in the 10K in Spain.

The new week 51 GB Top 25 table and all of the other links from the BT.net stats page have been updated with the new 21 Dec official rankings.

With the point for her last tournament win going on the rankings today, Naomi Broady has managed to hit the top 300 for the first time smile.gif ... just (i.e. at WR 300) and hopefully she will finish the year in the top 300 too.

The only other GB women's singles CH today is Nicola George at WR 854, while only Anna Smith has hit another doubles CH, at WR 167.

There are no ITFs for the women this week, so none of our players are in action in ranked events.

A year-end GB rankings stats summary can be found at http://britishtennis.activeboard.com/index.spark?aBID=61841&p=3&topicID=33088675

Forgotten to post here so far this year ashamed but as you've probably noticed, the GB top 25 tables continue on smile.gif

Week 2's is now finished and week 3's is available via the Following Week link near the top right of week 2.

All of the 2010 tables (ranking breakdowns sorted by player and sorted by week, movers, career highs, ages, GB successes tables, etc) are available via http://www.britishtennis.net/stats.html too.

Just 3 GB women have hit career highs so far this year in singles (Elena at 83, Katie at 87 and Naomi Broady at 290) and there are none yet in doubles.

Week 4's GB top 25 women's table is now up - shockingly, only one of the GB top 25 is in action next week (even she may not be, since she needs to survive a round or two of qualifying to even make it into next week) and 10 of the GB Top 25 have not played a ranked singles match since the start of 2010.

I realise events have been thin on the ground and the only ITFs on next week are two 10Ks, but they aren't exactly thousands of miles away.

This week's GB top 25 women's table is finally available and there seems to be plenty going on this week. The other stats on the BT.net stats page are up to date for the women too, with Jade Curtis hitting a new singles career high of 327 and Anna Smith (165) & Naomi Cavaday (242) hitting new doubles CHs.

The men's week 6 table will appear (and the men's stats page will be updated) later today, probably mid-evening.

The GB women's top 25 table for week 7 is now complete and all of the stats pages have been updated with today's rankings, but I won't have time to do the women's week 8 table until tonight.

Three GB women have hit new singles CHs - Elena at WR 65, Anna Smith at WR 346 and Nicola George at WR 842 - and two have hit new doubles CHs - Cav at WR 212 and Heather at WR 527
