The week 23 women's table is now up. Unfortunately, the WTA seem to have completely restructured their site rendering the links to player profiles and main tour events on past tables redundant (do they not realise that there are probably loads of other sites linking to these pages so they need to keep the old links working too?!) - I think I've got the links for this week correct, but the Birmingham draw and OoP don't seem to be up on the WTA site yet (I can't find any links to them anyway) so I won't know for sure until they are.

There are quite a few position swaps in the UK rankings, e.g. Elena overtaking Mel, Cav overtaking Wobbly, etc. If I have worked out the tiebreak for those one equal points correctly, Holly Richards and Danielle Brown will enter the GB top 25 this Monday at the expense of Lucy Warburton and Tara Wigan, though I have left them on the table for now because when there is a high chance of frequent changes, it's easier to leave them on the list than to delete them and then have to add them back on again.

Amanda Carreras (likely to be seeded 2 in the Budapest 10K) is the only player in the GB top 20 who is in action anywhere other than in Birmingham.

On the LTA site, it says that the Wimbledon wild card playoffs will be held on 9-11 June but it also says that their recommendations to the AELTC for main draw and qualifying WCs won't be published until the 9th, so we'll have to see what happens there!

The week 23 women's table has been updated with this week's official rankings, as have all of the other links from the stats page except the GB successes page, which I still need to add all the new career highs to.

The table is looking very full this week, since some players played Birmingham Q and are now playing in the wild card playoffs as well!

I wonder if the year to date points for Mel and Elena are the wrong way round on the table? Elena has had a strong start to the year while Mel had one good event and a lot of 1st round losses. I may have misread the table. I was just curious to see how the top women had done in 2009 and the numbers didn't seem to match my sense of how Mel and Elena had performed, the others look about right.

Thanks for noticing that, kundalini. Yes, you're right - in the rush to sort those tables out last week, I realised I'd forgotten to transfer the start values from week 22 but forgot to undo the sort before copying them across. I'm so glad you caught it before it had persisted for more than a week!

Anyway, just as the last GB woman goes out of a tournament this week, I've finally got this week's table up and completed last week's, so you can see at a glance where everyone got to and the likely rankings implications, even if it's too late to follow this week's progress there.

The provisional week 25 GB women's table is now up. As you can see from the right-hand side of the table, Cav is likely to be close to the top 200 after Wimbledon, but sadly Anna Smith and Amanda Elliott are both looking at 70-100 place drops when their points for reaching Wimby qr2 come off.

I've finally had the chance to add the new published rankings to this week's GB women's top 25 table and the results are all updated through Monday, with Tuesday's OoP details added too.

All the other tables linked to from the tats page are now up to date too, including the successes table which lists some new career highs, headed by Elena's 105 on 15 June and on 22 June, Jade C's 335 Amanda's 431.

There are notable new doubles career highs for Sarah (87) and Anne (98) - the latter means that Anne is now ranked in the top 100 for both singles and doubles! smile.gif

A dozen GB women have moved up more than 10% since the start of the year, using the method described on the GB movers table linked to from the stats page:

+35.6% Curtis, Jade (UP from 520 to 335)
+32.3% O'Brien, Katie (UP from 159 to 108)
+23.7% Moore, Tara (UP from 650 to 496)
+22.8% Broady, Naomi (UP from 471 to 364)
+22.2% Baltacha, Elena (UP from 136 to 106)
+21.4% Carreras, Amanda (UP from 548 to 431)
+18.2% Richards, Holly (NEW from UNR to 944)
+18.0% Brown, Danielle (NEW from UNR to 946)
+17.9% Thomas, Elizabeth (UP from 700 to 575)
+15.3% Keothavong, Anne (UP from 60 to 51)
+15.2% Stoop, Georgie (UP from 218 to 185)
+15.2% Webley-Smith, Emily (UP from 357 to 303)

Nine have moved down more than 10%:

-13.1% Windley, Jade (DOWN from 696 to 787)
-13.5% Clarke, Yasmin (DOWN from 555 to 630)
-14.2% Wigan, Tara (DOWN from 890 to 1016)
-15.6% Brown, Katharina (DOWN from 554 to 640)
-17.4% South, Melanie (DOWN from 110 to 129)
-21.8% Scarfi, Olivia (DOWN from 894 to 1089)
-28.7% Borwell, Sarah (DOWN from 363 to 467)
-34.1% Elliott, Amanda (DOWN from 318 to 426)
-66.4% Fitzpatrick, Anna (DOWN from 483 to 803)

... but overall there are 22 positive changes (17 up moves and 5 new entries) and just 12 negative changes (9 down moves and 3 dropping out of the rankings) with 1 unchanged.

A provisional GB top 25 table for next week is now up and can be accessed through the "Following week" link on the current table for now.

There are not many Brits in action in senior events next week (though 4 of the GB top 25 will be playing Junior Wimbledon - Robson, Moore, Rae & Vickers), but Katie is likely to be the top seed in the Pozoblanco 50K in Spain, with Natasha Khan and Jade Windley trying to qualify, Anna Smith will be at the 25K in Sweden with Anna Fitzpatrick in qualifying and Amanda Carreras will be playing in the 25K in Poland.

I first started doing this table for the women just over a year ago, so there is now a link on each table to the equivalent table 52 weeks earlier for comparison.

Katie pulled out of Pozoblanco anyway, of course.

Next week's table is now available via the following week link on this week's table - it's going to be a much busier week.

This week's GB top 25 table and all of the other tables linked to from the stats page have now been updated with the 6 July rankings, which took quite a while to appear on the WTA site yesterday for some reason.

Career highs

There are three new singles career highs, for would-be Brit Johanna Konta (347), Laura Robson (459) and Helen Parish (1080), and four new doubles career highs, headed by Sarah Borwell at 84, though it's worth mentioning that Laura's new doubles CH of 343 is over 600 places higher than her previous one!

The top 10 singles movers since the start of 2009 are now:

+35.5% Curtis, Jade (UP from 520 to 336)
+31.0% O'Brien, Katie (UP from 159 to 110)
+22.5% Moore, Tara (UP from 650 to 504)
+21.7% Broady, Naomi (UP from 471 to 369)
+18.1% Carreras, Amanda (UP from 548 to 449)
+17.8% Richards, Holly (NEW from UNR to 949)
+17.5% Thomas, Elizabeth (UP from 700 to 578)
+17.3% Brown, Danielle (NEW from UNR to 954)
+17.0% Baltacha, Elena (UP from 136 to 113)
+15.3% Keothavong, Anne (UP from 60 to 51)

The top 15 (plus Konta) points scorers since the start of 2009, with actual GB ranking in brackets, are:

643 Keothavong (1)
483 Baltacha (3)
472 O'Brien (2)
194 Cavaday (6)
164 South (4)
107 Stoop (5)
99 Konta (AUS)
71 Curtis (8)
70 Broady (9)
56 Carreras (10)
30 Moore (14)
27 Webley-Smith (7)
21 Elliott (16)
20 Thomas (17)
16 Khan (16)
13 Brown (25)

Next week's GB top 25 women's table can now be reached via the following week link on this week's table, which is still active since Anna Smith is in the Felixstowe 10K Final.

Last year, the Felixstowe event was a 25K, so there are heaps of points coming off on Monday week which couldn't be defended this year, hence there are going to be a lot of big drops down the rankings on 20 July for the women as well as the men. cry

This week's GB top 25 table and all of the other tables linked to from the stats page have been updated with the new official rankings.

Just two GB women hit new singles career highs, Olivia Smith at 987 and Helen Parish at 1077, and five hit new doubles career highs, headed by Sarah Borwell, who edges up another place to WR 83.

There are likely to be big changes at the end of this week, as you can see from the estimates on the right-hand side of the top 25 table. As for the men, most of them will be negative, in this case due to Felixstowe last year being a 25K (and relatively successful for the Brits) but only having been a 10K this year.

Now that Heather Watson is, for all practical purposes, certain to be in the GB top 25 on Monday week, I've added Heather to the table to make it easier for people to track her progress this week and next week - there's also a link to her new official website on there - not sure if it's completely finished yet, but it came up on a search.

Next week's GB top 25 women's table is now available via the following week link on this week's table.

With no events in the UK, it's a quieter week but nearly half of our top 25 players are playing somethere in the world, which is a good thing because lots of them have points to defend.

There will quite a lot of movement in the rankings on Monday. Olivia Smith will replace Holly Richards in the GB top 25 despite Heather Watson having more points than her because Heather's third counting score (the minimum number of scores needed to get a WTA ranking) won't go on the rankings until Monday week, when she will enter the rankings at about WR 850 / GB 22 ... or higher if she wins any more matches this week.
