Just found out that Chris qualified and absolutely chuffed! clap.gif

Feel terrible about Bloomers's loss but as I always say (and I looked like an idiot after predicting that in the Chardy-Nalby match), it's normally impossible to win your first ever five setter. Hopefully he'll get the LL as he needs the money!

Thanks for the pics and report, Josh. Very interesting.

With regards to Eaton being a top 100 prospect or not - Although I haven't seen him play, his serious disadvantage is that he's good on only a few surfaces, and there's hardly any tennis on those. He needs to learn to play on slower hard courts (at least) and then who knows!

Nice article by Neil Harman on Chris' triumph. thumbsup.gif

That's such a good report biggrin

I was a bit disappointed that it had got knocked off the top slot on the Times tennis page by more about betting, but the new article on that is actually very interesting - see http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article4174799.ece

The LTA was jumping for joy - but article doesn't mention that LTA play off tournament had eliminated him with presumably AELTC entering him.

Thanks for slide shows Josh, it gives a better appreciation of the overall surroundings, which looked 'tight' and pretty busy!

From the Daily Mail:

"Eaton is known only to the most dedicated anoraks who follow the British tennis scene"

b*st*rds!! LOL

Thinly veiled "It's my job to write on tennis but I've never heard of Chris Eaton" line imo

Does anyone know when the LL draw is. Is it just on a one by one drop out basis, or do they draw them all and then you know whether you're first in line or 16th?

There is a list as the draw is done after qualifying is finished so that you have a choice as to whether to hang around or not (those who are in the bottom half of the list are unlikely to get in so if they aren't playing doubles can go to another tournament)

No-one though knows what order the list is in though as it won't be published anywhere

For what it's worth, extract from the Beeb's report on the Monfils/Karlo SF in Nottingham:

[...] Monfils, the world number 32, is now a doubt for Wimbledon after suffering a shoulder injury. "It is not good. I couldn't serve and at the end I couldn't play. I hope I will be OK for Wimbledon," he said.

Here's the vid of both match points, although you don't really see Bloomers match point, but it shows how close they were.
