lol, you mean you can blame your insanely detailed knowledge of tennis rules on a book?
Um, yes, but I suddenly thought possibly ATP rules are different, and indeed rule VII.4.m.v.3 says that whether the player gets defaulted from the other events they are entered in is at the discretion of the supervisor.
I think normally they would be, but they might be keen to keep a 'name' player like that in ...

would that put him out of the singles as well? Anyone know the rules that well/desire a trip into the depths of the ATP rulebook as a pleasant way to spend the evening?
According to the rule book, page 130-131:
At the discretion of the Supervisor, one or both of the players may be withdrawn from all other events, if any, in that tournament.
It's not an automatic DQ from singles them, but up to the tournament supervisor (and walking off the court for no reason... surely they wouldn't let him come and play singles...)
I'll carry on looking to see if anything more comes up
I look away for a second and it's 4-1* to the Brits!!!
(Count.... the DF/Ace stats in the TB's are messed up and given to the other team... so an ace given to Boggo would be an ace from Sa) - always been that way on the ATP site
