Probably best to have a seperate thread for the doubles draw so it doesn't get lost in the all the main draw discussion as Baker, Slabba, Ward and co. march towards the finals.
(1) ERLICH, Jonathan ISR/RAM, Andy ISR v HANLEY, Paul AUS/PERRY, Todd AUS HAGGARD, Chris RSA/TURSUNOV, Dmitry RUS v BOLELLI, Simone ITA/SEPPI, Andreas ITA
(4) SOARES, Bruno BRA/ULLYETT, Kevin ZIM v (WC) AUCKLAND, James GBR/DELGADO, Jamie GBR RATIWATANA, Sanchai THA/RATIWATANA, Sonchat THA v LIPSKY, Scott USA/MARTIN, David USA
KUNITSYN, Igor RUS/THOMAS, Jim USA v BENNETEAU, Julien FRA/MAHUT, Nicolas FRA (WC) BOGDANOVIC, Alex GBR/HUTCHINS, Ross GBR v (3) MELO, Marcelo BRA/SA, Andre BRA
GARCIA-LOPEZ, Guillermo ESP/VERDASCO, Fernando ESP v MONFILS, Gael FRA/SIMON, Gilles FRA BUTORAC, Eric USA/REYNOLDS, Bobby USA v (2) COETZEE, Jeff RSA/MURRAY, Jamie GBR
Don't think Murray has ever teamed with Coetzee before, so it will be interesting to see how they work together, and once again he has to play Butorac, so one of last years champions is going out in round 1
Bad draw for Boggo and Ross, and I don't see them winning that, but interesting to know why Huss and Hutchins haven't played together on grass this year, which doesn't bode well for Wimbledon, as we presume them not having a WC is because they've made the cut - still, would have been nice for them to get a match.
Tester for Auckland/Delgado as well against a stratch pairing of 1 good and 1 solid doubles player, and I think they shock them and get the upset win

I see you've decided to make up for Bethan not being around this weekend.

What's wrong with having some insane optimism? After the great day of qualifying today, only Boggo, Eaton or Cox can stop one of the WC's winning the title
(And I see with 2 posts the doubles thread has already gone off-topic)

Thanks for that, FD. Last time I checked, it said "come back later"! Agree about the separate thread for the doubles competition.
Interesting insight into the new pairings. I, like you, am curious to see how Jamie M's partnership with Jeff Coetzee works out, not that we're going to see the evidence on the box! Agree that I can't see Boggo & Hutch getting past M&S, but have high hopes for Aucks & Delgo...

Nothing wrong with it at all
(It's just too easy )

I think Boogo and Hutch might do the business. Boggo has more shot-making ability than Jamie and Max put together and Melo is slow. His span is as wide as Karlovic but Slabba had a little singles set success against him moving him around, and Hutch can command the net as well as SA.
I've made the duplicate of this thread vanish since there seemed to be no additional info in it, so thought I'd better bump this one to the top before someone starts a third one.

I'm glad someone has been flying the optimism flag whilst I've been away, though I do somewhat object to the "insane" tag.
But back to the topic at hand. I think Aucks/Delgado have a good chance though admittedly that's partly becuase I've not really heard of hte other pairing! And is it terribly wrong of me to want Booty (&partner) to come out top in the battle of the champions?

Ullyett usually plays with Bjorkman, although Jamie M partnered him in Estoril and they reached the final, where they were beaten by Coetzee (JM's partner this week) and Moodie.
I'm going to Nottingham tomorrow and look forward to seeing how they all fare, doubles and singles.

What about the fact that the top seeds, Erlich & Ram, are already out, beaten 6-2 4-6 [7-10] by the Aussie pair, Paul Hanley & Todd Perry? I didn't deliberately duplicate the thread. Forgetting that FD had started this one, which I couldn't see when I checked the front page & had no time to look any further!

Bad me ... still, that info's on this thread now so all's well that ends well.
I never thought you deliberately duplicated the thread, just assumed that having done it accidentlally you'd prefer that it be zapped.
