Probably not fair to say they shouldn't have given Wimby Q a go, but it's a pity Miles had to w/d and I'm not sure why the likes of Myles Blake, Tom Rushby and Tim Hewitt are giving this a miss, unless they are injured too.

I understand fully why they chose WImbledon given the money involved and the chance of playing a Grand Slam, but a 15K with a field this week on their doorstep is a golden chance of points to be honest, and the likes of Bloomers/Goodall etc would win this event and get 18 points.... more than qualifying for Wimbledon...

That said... I would have been disappointed to see anyone choose this over Wimbledon though

It's not Timothy's first point, of course, though you're too young to remember, Daniel! He won his first point in September 2004, back when he was a teenager, and had a ranking in the 1100s.
Delighted to see him back - welcome back to the rankings, Tim.

Do you have a source for that? (e.g. a news report?) (it certainly makes sense given how long it is since he last played)

L16: (Q) Timothy Patient UNR lost to Baptiste Bayet (FRA) WR 1280 by 6-7(4) 7-6(3) 6-4 cry
L16: David Brewer WR 923 lost to (4) Valentin Sanon (CIV) WR 549 by 7-6(2) 6-3 cry
L16: (Q) Jonny Kinsella WR 1246 v (WC) Colin O'Brien (IRL) WR 1456 - play suspended before this match started
L16: Alex Miotto WR 1443 lost to (3) Ashutosh Singh (IND) WR 540 by 7-6(11) 7-5 cry
L16: Sean Thornley WR 993 beat (8) James Cluskey (IRL) WR 825 by 7-6(1) 6-2 biggrin
L16: (Q) Burnham Arlidge UNR lost to (2) Michel Koning (NED) WR 523 by 1 & 2 cry

That's 3 points for Sean, since this is a 15K, while all except Burnham (who was playing the no. 2 seed) made the set scores in their match very close - that 13-11 loss for Miotto in the 1st set tiebreak must have been particularly painful!

QF: (Q) Jonny Kinsella WR 1246 or (WC) Colin O'Brien (IRL) WR 1456 v (4) Valentin Sanon (CIV) WR 549 (to be played after rest after the R2 match on Thursday)
QF: Sean Thornley WR 993 v (2) Michel Koning (NED) WR 523

Well done Sean for getting through to the QF's here in what looks to be a good tournament for him and hope he can keep it going and make a semi final here.

Disappointing none of the other Brits could join him, but all were big underdogs and Miotto and Patient came very close to doing so... just a shame Miotto lost that long TB and Patient couldn't win the second set TB.

Good luck to Kinsella tomorrow as well and hope he can take out O'Brien, but I think it will be a very close match with only 1 or 2 breaks throughout it

Surprised Kinsella lost to that kind of scoreline, as with his serve getting broke twice in a set shouldn't be happening.

O'Brien then went and beat the 4th seed though in straight sets, so a creditable scoreline, although he should have pushed on from winning the first set (O'Brien is definately underranked though as he'll be top 800 at least by the end of the year)

Tough loss for Thornley as well, and I guess he had a set point or 2 in the TB, but a QF is still a good result for him.

After the first round results would have hoped for better than this, but it's still been an okay week with 6 players getting ranking points (but only here this week and it's it for the futures boys in singles)
