clap.gifclap.gif Go Jonny!! Great result. Hopefully he can back it up against Pless but like you say BT that will be very tough.

Wow, that's great news, it must be a huge relief to him (and how he deserved it after beating Eaton in the QWC playoffs only to see Eaton go on and pick up 50 ranking points!) - that'll be a 550-place rise up the rankings then. smile.gif

Really ?? Wow!! I didnt know you went up so quickly at that bottom end, yeah, a win tomorrow would be great, a nice few quid as well with it being a 75, I think it was E1100 for singles and another 400 odd for doubles win yesterday.

Yes, 9 points is enough for a top 1000 place at the moment, if you haven't played many tournaments, 10 if you have.

its a shame boggo couldnt make it here. i didnt realise it was a 75!
although i have no idea how his game would work on this surface.

pless will be a big test for jonny, he has proven too much for boggo twcie this year with his big hitting game. but i guess jonny has nothing to lose and can just go for it

Suprised it was so one sided against Richard.

According to Jonny it is very drizzly and windy, miserable conditions, probably not ideal for the big servers though.

Sad end for Richard after all the effort of qualifying to go out like that when the draw had been so kind.

Excellent win for Jonny and good to see him getting some hard earned ranking points again, and hope he can kick on against Pless and beat him given that Pless needed a 3rd set TB to win today, so he's not in the best of form.

Bloomers lost a lot easier than I was expecting, which is a touch disappointing, and was a match that he should have been looking to win.

Up to Slabba to determine whether the day ends as an overall success or a failure...

Slabba wins 6-4, 6-4

Great win for him, and to be honest I wasn't expecting this, so it makes the result even better.

Bjorn Rehnquist next, who won 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(8) today, but other than a challenger title in a weak field in China this year he hasn't done a lot, and is definately a winnable match.

Skupski and Goodall lost the doubles though 7-5, 6-2, so a bad loss, unless they are flying over to Newport to play there

Get in ! Super win for Slabba, he made his first futures final in Ireland on these sort of courts last year and if he's serving well he's a threat.

Rehnquist is ranked 236, been inside top 150. He's quite a big server, lots of first round losses this year but in winning that China title he did beat Udomchoke........however he struggled to beat Middlekoop here today who's not a player for the fast surfaces......its a winnable match

No doubt about it, as they were the third seeds! cry  Good day for Koning, though, as he also took out the top seed in the singles, Mischa Zverev! wink  Not such a good day for Middelkoop, the eighth seed in the singles, who lost to Rehnquist...
