RE: Week 27 - Challenger ($75k+H) - Dublin, Ireland

The good news - Richard won 6-0 6-0

The bad news - Ken lost 1-6 3-6

MD qualifiers not yet placed - I hope my assumption is incorrect.

Doubles draw
Marray/Nielsen seeded 2
Ken/Josh seeded 3

Richard obviously keeping his option open on Newport or giving his knee a rest

Edit
Ken's score corrected weirdface

Don't we all.

Not huge surprises, those two results, though I expected Ken to get more games and wasn't quite expecting Richard to manage the double bagel!

I expected Ken's opponent to get more games - that short first set is very surprising.

At last Richard's draw luck has changed - he has drawn the other qualifier Ivo Klec - 3rd match on ct 6 Tues, followed by Goodall/Skupski in doubles vs Koning/Middlecoop. First match on 6 at 11.am is Marray vs Mankad
Slabba vs Niland is the evening match on Centre court at 6.30pm - Free admission all week (LTA note)

How many more than 12 did you think he'd get? wink

FQR: (q3) Richard Bloomfield WR 383 beat (WC) Daniel Glancy (IRL) UNR by 0 & 0 smile
FQR: (q6) Ken Skupski WR 527 lost to (q4) Tomas Cakl (CZE) WR 477 by 1 & 3 cry

L32: (Q) Richard Bloomfield WR 383 v (Q) Ivo Klec (SVK) WR 360
L32: Alex Slabinsky WR 333 v Conor Niland (IRL) WR 304
L32: (PR) Jonny Marray WR 1598 v Harsh Mankad (IND) WR 674
L32: Josh Goodall WR 272 v Andrew Coelho (AUS) WR 309

Preview for the new match

Klec lost to Wardy in Queen's Q and Josh in Wimby Q and to Bloomers himself 1 & 2 in Wolfsburg last year, though he had extended Boggo to three tiebreak sets shortly before that.Richard also beat him 6-1 3-0 ret. in Bahrain and 6-4 0-6 7-6(5) in Qatar in 2004, so you couldn't really ask for a much better history against a (now) slightly higher-ranked player, but after what happened to Wardy in Cordoba today, let's not count our chickens!

If any of us had it, you can be sure we'd have posted it already, Beerabitt.

Horrible loss for Goodall, as he shouldn't be losing matches to Coelho on a surface that he's the better player on, and given that Cox beat him a few weeks ago, it doesn't say a lot for how Josh is playing at the moment.

Bloomers got the nice easy win he was looking for, and then gets the best draw as well, and I think he should get the second round here.

Hoped that Ken would do a bit better than he did, but he doesn't seem to be able to beat the higher ranked players in singles at the moment
