If the weather forecasts improve, then I shall probably go tomorrow. However they are currently predicting rain for tomorrow morning.cry

Like the Count says, Jamie B must have got the 3rd WC if he's ready to play, in which case it seems a bit strange that they've given Slabba a WC here and not Bloomers if they are going on what happened at Queen's, where he clearly did better than Slabba and arguably got closer to beating Gonzo than Wardy did against Safin (a grass court muppet), despite James being the one who nicked a set.

I accept that who did better out of Wardy/Bloomers can be argued both ways and Queen's saw it the other way too, but the Bloomers/Slabba comparison seems pretty clear-cut to me. I guess they could be justifying it based on age and ranking change over the last 12 months - though these variable 'rules' for choosing WCs always seem a bit dodgy to me.

I too would hope this means they have given the two of the remaining Wimby main draw WCs too so they don't have to miss out on Wimbledon altogether, but then it would seem even rougher to deny Bloomers either a Nottm or a Wimby Q WC if the other two Queen's qualifiers both get both ... and what about Josh, who is up over 100 places this year, only missed the top 250 cut by about 20 places and will be GB no. 3 behind Jamie B on Monday ...

The one thing we know for sure from this is that the Wimbledon MD & Q WCs published earlier this week can't have been set in stone, because nobody can take up a Wimby Q WC and a Nottingham MD WC, unless the LTA told them that they could only have the Nottingham ones if they did a 'beyond Tsonga' and travellled up and down between Nottingham and Roehampton any day they are due to play in both! (come to think of it, doing that is probably against ATP rules anyway)

Having said that, at least the Nottingham WCs have gone to Brits! smile.gif

But if Jamie Baker has got the 3rd wild card....why haven't they announced it yet.

Good to see Slabba and Ward get the WC's, although a bit strange to see them ahead of Bloomers and Goodall, although my theory about them accepting the WC to play here while Goodall and Bloomers maybe though they'd have a better chance of qualifying for Wimbledon and chose to turn it down could be correct.

Good luck to them (and Baker) and hope they get a nice draw and can get a win, and good luck to Boggo in the qualifying as well and I'm hopeful he can make the main draw as well, and most of the decent players will surely not play this as they want to play Wimbledon.

Dissapointing that they aren't going to get any chance in wimbledon now.

According to the Herald, Baker has a main draw WC - http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/headlines/display.var.2338880.0.Murray_slips_and_slides_to_win_Has_he_skidded_out_altogether.php

Very interesting set of players there!

Should we have a new thread to cut the confusion like I suggested or continue here?

Not so impressed with that qualifying draw to be honest, as it's a lot stronger than I'd have liked at the top level at least, and trust Boggo to be in a tough section.

At least he should get through Soares in the first round, but then Soares reached the RG SF in doubles so is in some form, but it would be worrying if he couldn't win that match.

Kunitsyn won't be easy, but he's not a great grass court player at all and I'd fancy Boggo to turn him over (at least the old Boggo anyway), but concerned about Falla who's an excellent fast court player and knows his way around a grass court. I don't think Boggo will qualify unfortunately, but if he gets through this draw then it would be some confidence back

No idea what Belluci is like on grass, but I'd guess he'd be too good for Cox, but a nice test for him anyway - Smethurst and Coupland will probably be outclassed by Kunitsyn and Falla, and very interested in George Morgan's draw as Sanguinetti's played 1 future's event (and lost in round 2) since September of last year, so who knows what kind of form he's in, and to be honest, I was sure he'd retired from tennis. Typical that the best draw goes to out player who's least likely to win, but a grea chance for Morgan to see what he can do

Bottom section is promising as Bloomers should beat Gregorc without much trouble, while Eaton and Bamford will have another nice match - Evans won't beat GGL though, unless GGL has another complete meltdown.

We may get a qualifier out of this, but Boggo's has got a tough draw, and I don't see Bloomers getting past Spadea and GGL, but a good chance for him to show Spadea that he should have gotten a Wimbledon WC instead of him!

Bloomers should qualify. Would love to see Morgan's match with Sanguinetti. Bit of an age difference there!

Bellucci hasn't played a men's match on grass for sure, but he may have played on it as a boy, which I can't find out now since ITF results section is down. I saw a little bit of him against Nadal and it seemed like he would do okay on fast surfaces - nice lefty serve and a good forehand (I even saw him serve-volley on clay on a point, haha) from what I can recollect. It'll be a good test for Coxy - his first match against a top 100 player.

It's obviously naive to expect anything from a 15 year old and I won't be disappointed no matter what happens, but I won't be too shocked if Morgan picked up a few games against a Sanguinetti who has played just one touranament (back in March) this year and isn't getting any younger.

Evo gets another shot at a top 100 player (assuming Malisse to be top 100) and I think he'll impress us this time. It'll be a good experience for Smethurst, too, since Falla can play quite well on grass.
