Anyone want to call a fix on that, giving them plenty of chances to win a match and make good use of the wild card? Probably isn't, but does seem a strange coincedence that both players pulled out of Wimbledon qualifying to play here and both get a qualifier.
Either way, it's a great chance for them to score a win, providing they don't get Tipsarevic though who would be a nightmare draw for them.
Baker will get hit off the court by Soderling though so a very poor draw for him, but at least he's playing tennis again.
Qualifiers get Slabba, Ward, Querrey and Johansson
I like Soderling. He and Andy had some right ding-dong matches early in Andys career and then the Swede got injured. He was taken to 3 sets in Halle last week in the first round by a WC but then beat Berdych and eventually lost to PK. Tough draw for Baker. A set would be nice !
i just looked at the draw and there were 5 qualifier places with one against jamie baker so perhaps an lta misprint (got carried away with british wildcards and qualifiers) or a LL place will be on offer
The ATP draw (which used to show Jamie playing Soderling) now shows Jamie v Qualifier too, so I guess Soderling has pulled out - that's potentially a lucky break for Jamie if true, and possibly for Boggo if Falla can be a bit of a tanker when he's already sure of a LL.

What a stroke of luck for Baker, and with 3 British players in the final round of qualifying, if they all qualify then at least 1 will have to draw a British player if they qualify.
And Baker, Ward and Slabba must have done something right in a previous life... all 3 get WC's to an ATP event, and all 3 draw qualifiers in the first round.
All of a sudden we could have plenty of players in round 2, but if Boggo, Eaton and Cox qualify, I want them to draw one of the Brits, as I'd wouldn't be sure they'd beat Querrey/Johansson, so it's best for British tennis for them to play each other and ensure someone gets in the second round
also i think if the 3 seeds win then boggo would get in as the LL (although that would mean all the brits lose)
Nice spot
I think we are all assuming that Cox is losing to Nishikori, so basically if Spadea wins the Boggo gets in as a LL, but if Eaton wins, Eaton qualifies for the main draw, so we have at least 1 more Brit in the draw (and if Cox wins, the LL idea goes nowhere, but Cox qualifies)
However, I'm kinda hoping all three Brits win so HOORAY! At least I've a chance of seeing a Brit play on RAINY WEDNESDAY. Apparently weather forecast looking good until RAINY WEDNESDAY.
Could be worse, I suppose (i.e. one of them could have got Nishikori), but only Boggo will be favourite to win his match and that's the all-Brit one. I'd rather one of our boys had got Falla.

Not much to say about Slabba's opponent, Vinny, that hasn't already been said on the qualifying thread. He's most infamous over here for having ended a long losing streak when he shocked Greg 9-7 in the 5th at Wimby eight years ago, but didn't have a good record against Greg and Tim otherwise. I'd love to see Slabba beat him, not least because of the Wimby WC farce, but I don't think he will.
Baker v Groth stats
Groth beat Myles Blake three times late last year - a retirement, a 3-setter and a default. He also beat Josh 7-6(6) 7-6(4) in the UK last August, plus Corrie, Slabba and Rushby in straights on his way to the semis in Wrexham earlier the same month, not to mention Bam Bam & the Skupster in the Nottingham Challenger last year too.
In fact, Groth is on an 8-match winning streak against Brits since a loss to Edward Corrie, of all people, early last August. Indeed, he has won 18 of his last 19 matches against Brits since losing to Jonny Marray on grass in August 2006, making his almost as prolific a Brit-basher as Nielsen whom he beat in the FQR today. So despite Groth's relatively low ranking, it's going to be a tough first match back for the fabulous Baker boy.
However, Jamie has good memories of the only previous week when he faced Groth across the net though - that was at Sunderland in March last year, when Jamie & Qureshi beat Groth & Coelho on their way to winning the doubles, with Jamie winning the singles title that week too!
Boggo v Wardy stats
It looks like reaching the doubles semis together in Surbiton last week was the only time Boggo and Wardy have played in the same match, but given Boggo's record against lower-ranked Brits (with the exception of Bloomers, Marray, Sherwood and Childs, all of whom were regular Challenger players when they got their good records against him), Boggo will be the favourite here.
