RE: Week 25 - ATP Nottingham - 2008 - Main Draw

Play was due to get under way today at 11.30 on all courts, but nothing's happening, if the live scoreboard is to be believed.  Anyone know whether it's raining in Nottingham - or is it just that the LS is completely b*ggered?

The cricket in Birmingham's been rained off so far, if that helps.

BBC has rain all day for Nottingham so I'm not imaging there will be a lot of play today.

The good news to that is that the TV coverage and the live streams of Nottingham begin tomorrow, so if it does rain all day, there's a good chance that tomorrow we will be able to see Boggo play live.

Play seems to be proceeding normally.

Dmitry Tursunov has been thrown out of the Slazenger Open in Nottingham for storming off court after disagreeing with a line call.

The Russian, partnering South Africa's Chris Haggard in the doubles, quit with the pair trailing Italy's Simone Bolelli and Andreas Seppi 6-4 3-1.

Tursunov was due to play Swede Thomas Johansson in the second round of the singles, but will take no further part. Top seed Radek Stepanek is also out of the event after suffering a rib injury.

Very normal. Big Ivo goes through on 2 tiebreaks. Is there anyone on the circuit who plays as many tiebreaks as this guy, it's staggering.

^^^

But needs 8 match points to do it, after wasting his first 7, including 2 on his own serve.

Stepanek's withdrawal is a shame, but if only Slabba could have won yesterday and then he'd have made the QF's

I'm not sure he would have made the cut for qualifying. They were saying on MTF that he will be in Newport, which is a scary enough thought! Then again, I reckon Jamie would have had him if he'd had just a bit more match practice.

The difference between Baker and Simon can be shown by this result - Simon isn't a great returner and struggles against big serves, yet won 60% of points of Groth's second serve and should have won easier as he wasted 11 break points.

Does look as if Groth is totally all serve, so very disappointing of Baker to lose the TB from *5-2 up (that said, if he was fit I think he'd has beaten him)

well its seems groth came up with one of 'those points' which really you should lose but some how fluke it and win in the TB to turn things around.
