It strikes me as being a bit sad really. This may well be the pinnacle of Slabba's tennis career. A straight sets defeat by Spadea in the first round at Nottingham. He is currently massively over-ranked and will need to play exceptionally well in order to stay inside the top 400 by the end of the year. More likely to be 450 - 500. Is he ever going to get another chance to play Wimbledon?
yes its pretty poor. they also didnt do aything for his run through qualies either i think.
but i was quite shocked that the radio commentators gave no info on the match either, just the odd update, it show sithink the medias general attidtude to british tennis. players results dotn reallt matter.
i think the bbc will eventually get round to putting something up. hopefully the lta will have an interview with both players too, as they do seem to have been imprving in that regard.

i posted this b4 but sporting life has a bit more from jamie and some from alkex and james
Jamie: "If you'd asked me when I was lying in a hospital bed if I'd be playing here I'd have laughed so just to be playing is a massive bonus," said Baker. "I was very, very tired and for weeks after I came out of hospital I felt like I couldn't get out of bed. I wasn't able to look more than a week in advance. "Once the disappointment goes away I think I'll realise how close I was to winning the match and that's a massive thing. "I felt really good but there's no question that was a rude awakening playing on grass and against somebody with as big a serve as that. "I expected my sharpness to be the last thing to come back." Baker highlighted the eighth point of the first-set tie-break as the turning point in the match. The British number three, serving at 5-2, thought he had played a winning shot but Groth somehow dug out a lob that landed on the sideline. The powerful Australian qualifier went on to take the breaker on his first set point and a break in the sixth game of the second set was enough to earn him victory. "I had a few chances in the first-set tie-break, especially at 5-2," Baker said. "I hit a good shot and the guy played a lob that he'd make probably one time in 20. "That point could have been the difference between winning and losing. I was pretty close to where I wanted to be today."
so sounds quite +ive overall. lets hope he can gets a decent wimby draw.

British number two Bogdanovic admitted finding it difficult playing his countryman, saying: "James has been playing really well and when you play a Brit in the first round it's always going to be a nervous match. "We were both nervous to begin with but I'm happy I got through it. Me and James get on really well and it's always tough to play friends." Bogdanovic was on the verge of breaking into the top 100 last summer before a back injury hampered his progress but he has struggled to reverse his slide down the rankings and is currently outside the top 250. The 24-year-old began working with Brad Gilbert at the start of the year following the American coach's split from British number one Andy Murray. And after beating two higher-ranked players in qualifying, Bogdanovic is confident he is now heading in the right direction. "It's been going really good and we're getting on really well," he said. "The last few months I didn't do as well as we both expected but Brad kept saying 'play aggressive and you're going to have some results'. "I've been working hard and playing well and this week I've had some good wins and now I'm just trying to get some consistency. "I lost a bit of confidence but it's just a case of getting some momentum on your side." Bogdanovic knows he will have to play an even better match if he is to beat Cilic, who knocked out second seed Paul-Henri Mathieu yesterday. "He's a good player, a young guy coming up and it's going to be tough," he said. "But I've got nothing to lose and I'll go out and try to play aggressive."
World number 474 Ward, 20, was disappointed to go out at the first hurdle after pushing Marat Safin all the way at Queen's last week. "I didn't play as well as I could have but he served well on the big points and I made too many mistakes," he said. "It was a good chance playing one of the lowest ranked players in the tournament but he played well and you can't win them all. "It's good experience and you can only get better playing these sort of events each week."

As expected, Tursunov has been DQed from the singles and so Johansson gets a bye to the QF's... don't think Tursunov will be playing anymore LTA run tournaments if he can help it after this...
And as expected, the LTA haven't put an OOP up yet
