not to happy this mole wasnt watching my match, maybe he will tomorrow, took a 7-5 6-4 win today very happy with it. On to tomorrow, bring it on, loving the grass.
I watched Draper's interview on the beeb earlier today and he was adamant that main draw wildcards will only be offered to those in the top 250 (ie Baker and Boggo). So my question is this (apologies if this is partly in the wrong thread, and I haven't read the other yet so more apologies if it's already been answered!!)
a) what is this for? Is it a play off only for a qualy wildcard in which case, if the rumours are correct and both finalists have been guarenteed qualy wildcards, then why on earth are they going to actually play the final?
b) how much control does the lta actually have over the wildcard committee at the aeltc? If I recall correctly, the aeltc can give wildcards to whoever they want, and in the past have used that to give more wildcards to Brits than the lta wanted.

(a) This is a play-off for a WC into the qualifying draw, with 2 WC spots available - both the finalists get a WC, so there is no point in the final, but the winner will probably get some incentive like a WC to the next UK challenger/futures of something like that
(b) The LTA makes it's recommendations as to who they think should get a WC, and I think the AELTC have to give those players a WC - so Boggo and Baker who were recommended this year had to get one. Any other remaining WC's is at their discretion, so they have given 3 to Chardy, Dancevic and Malisse, with 3 more to be dished out, so there is a chance they will give them to the British players if no-one more deserving/crowd pulling etc exists
a) no idea, i guess why not. isnt there also money involved? b) i think the aeltc can still refuse lta recommendations, although i am not aware of them ever having done so.

Round two status :
Chris Eaton [660] vs. Andrew Fitzpatrick [1447] Myles Blake [762] vs. Jonathan Marray [1586] / Daniel Evans [988]
Neil Pauffley [Unr] vs. Dan Cox [942] Morgan Phillips [1784] vs. Ian Flanagan [1063]
Good luck to - Fitzy, Marray/Evo, Coxy (only by a bit as I like Pauffley, too) and Mors.
Perhaps the Marray/Evo match was put back to today to allow Evans to focus fully on Queens'? (And if Evans had won at Queens he'd have got an automatic qualies wildcard and Jonny would get a bye to round 2 of this?) Just guessing.
