Slabba must be a WC as you get 4 WC's for ATP qualifying and he's lower ranked than the last DE acceptance, but probably was a misprint on the draw or something.

Was expecting 4 losses when I saw the draw and felt really disappointed as the likes of Skupski, Marray, Bamford, Eaton and co could all do well but didn't have a chance to enter, but thrilled at seeing the results.

Bloomers has beaten Stadler already this year, and after beating Levy easily he must be confident, but what does that say about Boggo's loss?

Slabba's win is huge as Muller is at home on the grass and has a huge lefty serve, so he's done well to win, especially after wasting match points. Umdomchoke will be a totally different match though as he's not got a big serve and is just solid from the ground - think Slabba should win that match

Ward's win is good as well, but we don't know how badly injured Bohli is so can't judge the win properly. Don't know a lot about Klec but I'd think he win given that Ward doesn't often follow up wins, but hopefully they can all go and win another round here.

Shame Jamie lost the first set, but don't expect anything from him at all, but if he can't beat a complete clown like Kubot then he isn't going to do a lot in singles

clap.gifclap.gif 3 stunning results from the Brit boys biggrin.gif. Yes Ward's was a retirement, and I hope Bohli is OK but a win is a win and it was still unexpected. Good luck to all three in the next round but I'm not going to hold out too much hope as they are still very difficult matches.

As for Jamie M, he did manage to break Kubot once in the second set, but was broken twice himself and Kubot now has a match point on his own serve...and has taken it to win 75 63

Surprise surprise.. Maybe now Jamie will come to the realisation that despite his relative successes in doubles he has not grown into any better of a singles player [despite having a former Top20 singles player to practise with day in day out]. Lets hope this will quash all of the talk about him receiving a Wimbledon MD wildcard [and even one for the qualifications]

A pity it couldn't have been 4/4 (probably would have been if they'd given the WC to Marray or the Skupster and they'd drawn Kubot too), but at least the results so far today (i.e. the other three all played tougher opponents and won) shoot any argument for giving Jamie a Wimby WC right in the foot.

Is there another Kubot? The only one I found by searching the ATP website would be the British number 2 quite comfortably. So not a clown by our standards anyway, although he's not had a good year so far.

Klec, the opponent of the three we probably know least about, beat 'opponent of the week' Levy in FOQ, while results against Brits are:

Bloomers beat him 1 & 2 in Wolfsburg last year and is 3-0 H2H against him

Boggo beat him 6-7(4) 7-6(6) 7-6(2) in Wroclaw last year and is 1-1 H2H against him

James himself lost to him 7-6(4) 6-4 in Valencia ATP Q two years ago
