Yes, it sounds like Wardy was impressive in the interview room as well.
Josh and the LTA come in for a bit of a bashing re Wimby WCs in the Net Post, linked to from that article.
Personally I think they should give WCs to Brits capable of winning a 5-set match on grass against a 50-100 player if they get a good draw (that being a realistic target), so I'd be inclined to give them to Boggo, in the hope that by then he will have played a couple of good matches in Nottingham to recover from this week), Baker if he wants to play, Bloomers and Ward and take a risk on Slabba (after his performances in Queen's qualifying), Skupski and, yes, Josh.

Interesting, but not totally surprising, the bit that jumped out to me -
"It was interesting to note that, rather than watch how Ward, a 21-year-old of considerable promise, might fare against a premier player, the LTAs coaching gurus preferred to witness Bogdanovics tame exit. The group included Brad Gilbert, Paul Annacone and Steve Martens, the Belgian promoted last week to the position of player director and to whom Paul Hutchins, the head of mens tennis, and Carl Maes, his counterpart on the womens side, will now report. ..........."
So nothing has changed then!
Still if you've invested £0.5m/year you've got to watch your investment, that must almost feel like a curse to Alex rather than a privilege.
although to be fair there would have been tv recordings of Wards match to watch later but no recording of boggo's, also you would expect gilbert to be watching anyway. and how would they know boggo would lose tamely b4 hand!

By the way, was the bit about Josh telling his friends that he'd got a WC ripped from here, I wonder? (I thought I remembered seeing something about it, and a pm has just confirmed my memory)
If so, that seems a bit unfair - I've got no problem with the media using any research we are "sad" enough to do (after all, it could be said that part of our 'mission' as commited fans is to get more written about GB tennis), but I'm not sure it's reasonable to use personal stuff like this from an uncorroborated source ... it's a bit like the Boggo's rackets scandal-that-never-was.
Still, the mention here about it wasn't very prominent so we should probably give Neil the benefit of the doubt and assume that he actually got this bit of info from elsewhere.
However, it's another warning that given how many people look at this site these days, we shouldn't post things we learn from personal contacts with the players without considering how it might be used against them.

Well jazar is right in one way and that is that I don't think Dan Evans should have got the wildcard. However, I don't begrudge him it in any way and I'm supporting him 100% today and hope he can perform well in the second set.
If anyone wants to see an example of what the general public think of it, go to forum.betfair.com click on the tennis section and read the thread Terrestrial TV Coverage of plucky no-hopers getting humped
A few examples
Pangloss 10 Jun 12:52 Hang on chaps - this is the LTA in full swing. It's all about taking part and playing the game. Practising beforehand and the associated risk of winning is left to the foreigners.
Ivo Karlovic 10 Jun 13:00 Maybe the public will appreciate tim henman more than they did after seeing this rubish
ETC ETC.
Hardly giving a good image of British tennis
