2004 - Flan & Del, but there were 7 qualifiers that year. This is only the second time this century we've had more than one qualifier, and given the smaller number of places available and how few players we had in the qualifying draw in the first place, it's got to be classed as the better performance of the two.

None of the draws that the qualifiers can get are exactly desirable, I guess, barring the match against Boggo. Other options are Gonzo, Safin and Grosjean...
Also, how on earth did Vallverdu (I hadn't heard of him before) get a wild card with Andy?
The only explanation I can come up with is this - Vallverdu happens to play for the Univ. of Miami and he probably hits with Andy when he is in Florida.
And there's nothing I can say of Nadal, obviously. Right after the RG final, he decides to play doubles - as you can see, the ATP is very harsh and all his injuries are caused by their illogical schedule.
Small consolation - at least Bloomers and Ward should both get on Centre ... but that's two years in a row that Bloomers has had the worst draw of all the Brits (though he has some competition for that accolade this year!)
QUALIFYING RESULTS - worth seeing all in one place, I think!

Josh 2nd on Centre Wardy 3rd on Centre Andy doubles 5th on Centre
Boggo 3rd on Court 1
(how did I know the one winnable match for a GB player would be on the court I can't get into LOL - Boggo had better just win and get on Centre on Tuesday - otherwise, a lot to look forward to )
I assume Bloomers will play on Centre on Tuesday, with Dan playing on Tuesday as well.

Being honest the chances of him winning any of the possible matches was low so surely he will benefit more from being on the main stage against such a quality player?
That's true - and Safin's always capable of imploding too. I think Josh and Richard are the unfortunate ones, both of them would be capable of winning had they got better draws, especially with so much grass court match practice!

Nice draw for Boggo. Sirianni isn't as grass happy as most people from Australia are (not that he is bad on it) and Boggo beat him in straights in Cherbourg this year. Nothing needs to be said about the draws that Rich, Josh or Ward have, but let's see. At least Ward will gain a lot (and I'm not just talking about money) from his match!
Every player barring one of the qualifiers would have been bad for Evo, I guess, but it could have been far, far worse than Malisse. Hopefully he'll impress us with a good show.
