Great win for Wardy. The lads, bar Jamie, have performed so well this weekend. Hoping Rich joins him. This should start to cement Wardy in top 500 surely.

This is hard to believe! rofl.gif I guess this is 5 points for him? And 3.5K Euros, which is a lot for someone used to the peanuts you get at Futures.

Well done, Master Ward, you have made us all proud. worship.gif But please don't forget that the real hard work begins now - qualifying for a Tour event or even winning there means nothing, as countless Brits have discovered in the past.

Still, this is the best thing that has happened to British tennis this year. Along with Keothavong getting to the top 100, of course.

Sirianni beats Kubot 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the 3rd to qualify.

Just Bloomers vs. Jun to go... and Bloomers holds for 4-3 in the 3rd

Which shows that Jamie did quite well. It's not like every year we have three Brits coming so close to qualifying, so there's no reason to assume that Marray, Skupski, Kasiri, Seator or whoever got the WC would have blasted Kubot away.

I'm not saying Jamie deserves the WC, he didn't and I would have liked to see Marray get it. But he did quite well against a player ranked around 200...

Yes, only 5 points for qualifying because the main draw has 56 players in it - Queen's must be just about the hardest work per ranking point of any tournament in the world, with only 10 points for winning a main draw match and 20 for winning two as well. If James manages to beat these three in succession in the first three rounds of a Challenger sometime, he'll get more than 20 points just for that!

Hopefully these wins will give him loads of confidence though!

Phew, 5-4 after 30-30. This would be a good time to come out swinging after the changeover ...

Hmm. well if he is swinging, they must be going out cry Jun races to a 40-0 lead and although Bloomers pulled two points back, it's 5-5.

Holds for 6-5.... he's got at least a TB, but I'd rather he did a Ward and break for the match

... but he wins the next 4 points to hold, we're guaranteed at least a t/b here ... how tense will that be!
