Only four Brits in qualifying - it doesn't say Slabba is a WC but he must be because the last QDA is WR 268. That makes the fourth WC a monumental waste and he's got by far the best draw too. Having said that, Surbiton Q draw looked almost as hard as this!
QR1: (WC) Alex Slabinsky WR 334 v (q2) Gilles Muller (LUX) WR 125 QR1: (WC) Richard Bloomfield WR 376 v Harel Levy (ISR) WR 159 QR1: (WC) James Ward WR 488 v (q6) Stephane Bohli (SUI) WR 144 QR1: (WC) Jamie Murray UNR v Lukasz Kubot (POL) WR 202
Main draw WCs for Boggo, Josh & Dan Evans.

Like Slabba, former top 60 player Muller went out to Dancevic in Surbiton and he has also lost to Boggo in Lanzarote and Grenoble in recent months, though he did win the Izmir Challenger recently as well. He tends to struggle a bit more against the even lower-ranked Brits (e.g. Eaton lost to him 6 & 4) but still comes through.
We all know what former top 30 player Levy did to Boggo's hopes in Surbiton. In fact, the only Brits apart from Andy who have a 100% record against him having faced him more than once are Greg (2-0) and Big Arv (3-0), so at least he doesn't like facing tall Brits with big serves!
Bohli won the Lanzarote Challenger, beating Boggo 4 & 2 on the way, and he is on a 5-match winning streak against Brits (Bloomers, Smith, Parmar, Mackin, Boggo) since losing to Colin Fleming in 2005.
Kubot lost 2 & 3 to Big Arv on a fast court in Rotterdam two years ago and Parmar holds a 2-0 record against him, but he has also thrashed Childs and Hilton in the past. However, this is by far the best draw, pity it didn't go to someone likely to be able to take advantage. Jamie has faced him across the net in the last year - he and Jordan Kerr lost 7-6(5) 7-6(3) to Kubot & Zovko in Lyon last October.

Actually, I've just checked and although up to 2004, the qualifying cuts used to be outside the top 500, in three of the last four year (including this year), the cut has been inside 300 and last year is the odd one, not this year.
Still, Bloomers must be having some chance since this is grass and he can beat top 100 players on his day. Also, I won't be too shocked if Jamie impressed us a bit.
Has anybody noticed the frontpage of the tournament website?
"The opening rounds of the qualifying competition take place today at The Queen's Club as the 2008 Artois Championships get underway. British quartet Jamie Murray, Alexander Slabinsky, James Bloom and Richard Bloomfield are among those hoping to book a place in the main draw, which begins on Monday."
