RE: Genuine Top 100 Potential

Totally agree with bobobobo, extremely difficult for the smaller guys.

I believe that Dan Evans is no longer working with Mark Hilton, I dont think we've got a young player that is as good as Hilton was as a Junior so there's nothing to suggest to me that any of them will make it any further than he did (circa #200).

There will be 'accidental' periods of good fortune where a player gets a few good results before his other good results come off and that can push people into the top 100 for a few weeks but for players that will make it and stay there the men's cupboard looks very bare. Am hoping that James Ward might be able to move on, though I think both he and Jamie Baker would be the only ones that I think might get somewhere close to top 100.

Hope I'm wrong but I think Boggo's a busted flush, I think he's peaked and dont expect him to get back in top 150. Very disappointing, but so much talent just not able to get the results, he's got to pack in with Brad Gilbert, it's clearly not working, Mike Raph was the only one who got a tune out of that instrument.

As for the others, Bloomers should be higher with his serve, he's a lovely lad, but not got the killer instinct in my view, a serve like his shouldnt get broken as often as it does.

Like Josh as a player but you've got to be so good to be top 100, cant see why he'll be better in next two years than he was in last two, so dont expect much more from him than top 250 or so.

That's my view, pretty negative I'm afraid, but I just dont see any of them having it, I really dont, but I'd love one to prove me wrong.

Why do you rate Hilton so highly? confused.gif

I mean, if you are speaking in terms of talent then I have no idea because I obviously didn't see him when he was young, but in terms of results, we have at least six players now who are better than what he was at the age of 18 and three who are at least three times as good. In terms of results only, I hasten to add, which of course don't tell the full story.

I have to say of current players on the circuit I just simply can't see any joining Andy at any time in the top 100.

Apart from possibly Bogdanovic, it is a simple case of none are good enough and I see no real evidence that they are going to get good enough.  I do like Jamie Baker, but I just don't see him ever really have the weapons to truelly make it.

I am no real expert on our junioirs, but it does seem like we now have to hope someone comes through from the junior juniors, since the older age group juniors do not seem particularly to give evidence that they are any better than previous recent generations.

Like Bladetiger, I really wish I didn't feel so negative about our prospects, and reallky wish at last one woyuld prove me wrong.  But that is my honest opinion.
