Karanashev had a career high in the top 800 last May. His last two matches against Brits were a 0 & 3 wn against Amadeus in Uganda in 2006, a 2 & 2 win against Rob Dee and a 2 & 1 win against Darren Emery in the Sudan in 2005 (note that Rob took more games off him than the other two - that was also the week of Dee & Brighten's famous victory against el Harith & Rusthei in the doubles before they got thrashed by Amadeus and his partner!) and a 1 & 2 loss to Michael Ouvarov in Challenger qualifying in 2004.

Hopefully James can get revenge for Chris's loss, but the winner of this one will probably face no. 1 seed, former top 25 player and former (2000) Wimbledon semi-finalist Vladimir Voltchhkov (BLR) WR 391! Well, at least James could say "my Dad played at Wimby too, and he reached the QFs more times than you did." (men's doubles and mixed doubles, that is!)

Somewhat erratic nowadays, Voltchkov lost in R1 of an Egyptian Future earlier this year, but won the Redbridge Future (and various other Futures) last year and led Stani Wawrinka by 2 sets to 1 with a bagel in the 3rd in his last match, which was in the BLR v SUI Davis Cup tie in April.

A chance for another point for Feaver and I think he can get it with Priddle pushing him close and Feaver in a little bit of form at the moment.

He'll probably lose to Voltchhkov, but at the moment he's at a level where his target should be to get 1 ranking point each week, so beating the qualifier would consitute a successful week, with anything else as a bonus

It's good to see James continuing to score the odd ranking point on a regular basis. Just to summarise from earlier in the thread, he will now face a former top 25 player and former (2000) Wimbledon semi-finalist!

Of course, his dad John, a former top 100 player, played at Wimby too and reached the QFs in both doubles events (that's men's and mixed, not men's and women's e Well, at least James could say "my Dad played at Wimby too, and he reached the QFs more times than you did." (men's doubles and mixed doubles, not men's and women's, that is - though I guess Renee Richards may have played in both of the latter two at different times!)

I wouldn't imagine James has a prayer in this match, but hopefully it will be great experience forhim, and at his level, once you've got a point in the bag from a tournament, anything else is just a bonus.

It may well have been a toughie but he only went and did it. Nice one James he is really starting to pick up points now and spring the odd big upset.
