I thought Slabba had managed the result of the week, but James has gone to the country where Alex was born and trumped him!
Voltchkov blew away his first opponent and, like I said earlier in the thread, had taken Stani Wawrinka to five sets in DC in his previous match!
I thought James might get a few games, but winning it, that's astonishing! - as much as the Wardinator's run in Balaguer, if not more so. It looks like he got better all through the match as well.
Imagine the call home:
"Hey Dad, you're no longer the most successful player at Wimby I've ever beaten"
L16: James Feaver WR 1024 beat (1) Vladimir Voltchhkov (BLR) WR 391 by 6-7(2) 6-4 6-2 QF: James Feaver WR 1024 v Siarhei Betau (BLR) WR 895
Betau lost 4 & 0 to Miles Kasiri in Israel last November.

Brilliant win for James and that is by far his best win and possibly the result of the year so far for British players, as it came from nowhere against a good player.
Better than expected week for him so far, but I'll keep quiet about the rest of the draw in the top half, given it contains an unranked qualifier, someone ranked outside the top 1000, and James's opponent who sits at the lofty heights of 895....
A Brit scores a great win, the draw opens up nicely for them.... let's hope the 3rd part of the trilogy doesn't take place
I know, they're determined to make it harder to get that table ready for a new week LOL - seriously though, it's nice to see a few of the players at that level adding points on a regular basis.

Sorry, I'm finished with exams (for ever - at least that's the current plan)
Funny, I said exactly that in 1968 ( I know, when your Mum and Dad were still at primary school!), and stuck to it - apart from setting, marking and tutoring friends' kids through them!
Great result from Feaver, anything from here on in is a bonus given he shouldn't have gotten past Voltchkov. I'm hopeful though!
Beautifully put, Bethan; the gods of taking-things-for-granted may well be appeased! But I don't think Lynne will be - it might be better if you were to start running NOW - 'gotten', indeed!
Yes, I thought I wouldn't mention l'ouverture du tirage au sort ... at least not in English!
Mmm, let's hope Bethan is too busy with exams to notice ...
Bethan may be, Derek (& Steven), but I'm not...!
Ah, but you don't have Bethan's disastrous, i.e. 100%, track record of pointing out how well un tirage a se presenté (which is my Frécossais version of what I think Steven was saying! Don't you just hate amateur translators, speaking as a former technical translator, of course! )
