RE: Summer Of Cricket - 2008.

That's the worst we've played this year, I guess. cry.gif

Also, Anderson's bit of a gamble as he's either world class or county standard, and that can be bad in limited overs where your top bowlers have to bowl a certain number of overs. I hope that it's him that Flintoff will repace when he gets back.

It was the batsmen who played like County second XIers.

The bowlers (including Anderson) were great!

I don't know. He gave about 33% of the team's runs in 20% of the overs. doh.gif

I admit that the batsmen lost the match, but Anderson's problem is something than concerns me as this wasn't a one off.

Yeah but they only scored 180. Half Anderson's runs were taken off him in his last 1 or 2 overs.

We have different roles for the bowlers. Broad and Tremlett bowl straight and back of a length and stifle the wickets out. Anderson's job is to really pitch it up, throwing in the odd aggressive bouncer, and so it is expected he will go for more. That's why he took more wickets than Tremlett.

Broad was brilliant yesterday. He would have got into Australia's team. clap.gif

The batting was absolutely abysmal. NZ bowling is neither fast nor menacing. If KP's rhetoric about annihilating them is true, then you don't fail to chase 180 when the team you're playing is as low on confidence as the Kiwis were.

We will lose this series now.

True, but 60+ is too much when the total is 180 odd. But I admit that most of the runs were slogs in the end and it may not have been much different if someone else had been there.

Whenever KP says that "we'll send them home empty handed" or like, we end up looking like clowns. ashamed.gif I remember him saying that in South Africa last year.

Anyway, I'm confident that we'll win. The team's too strong compared to NZ, who have no one to rely on barring McCullum and Vettori. Our only weak link is Ambrose... I want Mustard back.

And Broad's looking like a replacement for Freddie. I like the look of Wright, too...

Yes, I like KP a lot when he just concentrates on playing rather than his too-often foot in mouth comments.

Theres a line between confidence and arrogant stupidy ( and giving the oposition motivational quotes to pin up in their dressing room ), which he tends to cross a bit too often.

i can see what people are saying about anderson. But then saying that he is our best bowler by a far stretch on his day and he is not that bad when he is not. He seems to get the wickets and when he doesnt gets undeserved flack. As you can proberly tell i am a big fan of his!! But bring back harmison i say

They replaced a batsman with Flintoff when a bowler was injured in the first place. I doubt it would have made much difference, but wow!

No, Arka, from a purely neutral point of view, I reckon England were saved by the rain!

Could be the final of the World 20/20, now that Zimbabwe have confirmed their non-participation and, therefore, Scotland's place!
