RE: Weeks 23-23 - French Open Doubles

Fantastic result for Ross. Well done. But, agree about Jamie and Max, not doing that well at all. Wish Jamie had stayed with Booty. We'll have to hope things look up on the grass.

OR Maybe Jamie Murray just isn't as good as we thought he was??

It was a terrible and arrogant decision of his to split up with Booty. Whenever I saw them play, which admittedly was only a few times, Booty was the better player. Now it appears Jamie is the weak link on this team too, being broken 4 times.

I agree with what you write there John.  I am not saying that Jamie is no good afterall but, I think the strength of his partnership with Booty was very much a case of  "the sum of the total being greater than the parts".  When they had a great relationship, their form was pretty darn good.  I dont think Jamie valued that enough when seeking a better individual player.

Nice article from the BBC. Includes picture. Quotes from Ross: -

"We are very pleased, ecstatic in fact," he said. "It is probably my best, if not the joint best (result) so far.

"We knew it was a difficult match - Mark is the defending champion - but we played aggressively."

Hutchins has been playing for five weeks now with Huss, who as a qualifier partnered Wesley Moodie to the doubles title at Wimbledon in 2005.

"We have improved a lot and have been playing well recently, especially in the last week," he added.

"I would like to speak to Hussey and make this more of a permanent thing."

I'm really pleased to see the Beeb reporting on Ross's achievement at RG, even more that he's thinking in terms of a more permanent partnership with Stephen Huss - even if Aucks was there before him (but has obviously spurned the opportunity! cry ) wink

As for Jamie M, much as I like the man (he's far easier to warm to as a character than his prickly younger brother! eyepopping.gif ), I'm beginning to feel that it may be the case, more or less as john suggested, that he isn't as good as he thinks he is.  Either that or he's a poor judge of doubles partner.  He  certainly doesn't seem to have clicked with Mirnyi as he hoped he would &, indeed, as he did with Booty in the first half of last year...! cry

JM is not good enough in my view! forehand is one of the worst in history of mens tennis & the forehand return is so bad it's criminal!! Serve is not good enough, vollies not sharp enough & ego far too big to want to work hard enough on those area's to improve enough to be a force...& actually make a living.
To this point he has been very lucky to get this far, he has now been worked out & is easily picked off, surley the partners he has had will realise this & he will soon be scratching around for a partner, Big Max is far too good & worked so so hard to be rolling out 1st , 2nd round each week.
I give this pairing to the end of Wimby!!!!!!

Best of luck to both pairs! pray.gif  I fear L&M will be a tough nut for H&H to crack - worry.gif - & I sincerely hope Jamie has better luck in tandem with Liezel than he had with Mad Max! please.gif
