Weeks 23-23 - French Open Doubles

Jamie Murray teams up with Max Mirnyi are the 12th seeds. They first play Rik De Voest and Robin Haase.

Ross Hutchins plays with Stephen Huss. They have a tough draw against the 4th seeds Mark Knowles and Mahesh Bhupathi.

awful draw for Ross. A cheap round here would have helped the Nottingham defence a little.

Hopefully M&M can really perform here. But I can't see them going any further than Vizner and friend.

Jamie has teamed up with Liezel Huber (USA) again, for the mixed doubles. First opponents are Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) and Marcin Matkowski(POL).

On the basis that anyone who teams up with Matkowski or Fyrstenberg has to be pretty useful, I'd say that was quite a tough draw! fear.gif  frustrated.gif

Much as Jamie struggles against Frystenberg and Matkowski in men's doubles, he's done well against them in mixed. He beat Matkowski on his way to the Wimbledon title and he and Huber did for Frystenberg at the US Open. Huber's also beaten Matkowski in their only encounter at mixed doubles, so hopefully she and Stretch will win here. Shame about the weather - it's awful here in Paris.

H&H play tomorrow, court 8, 1st match.

M&M are also doing battle tomorrow, they are 2nd match on court 11, after Booty (remember him?) and Fisher have played theirs.

Fingers crossed that both teams take inspiration fron the exploits of AM this evening. thumbsup.gif

They must've been listening, as they've just been & gone & dumped out the fourth seeds, Bhupathi & Knowles, in straight sets, 4 & 4! biggrin  Well done, lads! worship.gif

Huss and Hutchins beat Knowles and Bhupathi 6-4, 6-4.

Great results for the lads and they looked in control for the most part, and should have won the first set more easily, as they had a set point at 5-2, and Ross served for it at 5-3 only to be broken. But they broke right back to win the set, and then broke again when Bhupathi served to stay in it.

They saved 7/8 BP's as well, but they all came in the game where they were broken, so a great serving performance otherwise by the boys

Oops, I've been posting about this in the main RG thread, didn't realise there was a separate one. Brilliant result, he must be au-dessus de la lune! smile.gif

Bravo to H&H clap.gifclap.gif That really is an excellent result, hope they can keep it up, winning RG would be the perfect way to defend those Nottingham points of Ross's. Oops I'm getting ahead of myself again aren't I wink.gif

Suberb result - had a sneaky feeling about this one as they probably came in with the nothing to lose mentality. clap.gif

In the match before Stretch & The Beast, Booty & Fish are a break up in the third against the 8th seeds Bjorkman & Ullyett.

Bjorkman & Ullyett edge past Booty & Fish, winning 7-6(8), 1-6, 7-6(2). So Jamie up next.
