The winners of both of these matches will play an unranked Italian for a place in the main draw. Big chance for Thomas, I'd say, and it would be shocking if Morgan didn't make it.

I think he'll easily lose to Miccini, who's one of the best 1992 kids out there - last year he took six games off Sanguinetti in a match plus has beaten many quality players on the Junior tour, where he's ranked 35 even though he's two years underage. Good luck for the upset, though!
Come on, Morgan. I'd love to see you get a point this week.
Morgan plays the unranked Italian, Daniele Giuliani, for a place in the main draw. Giuliani doesn't seem to be much of an international player these days, it seem, since he has played just a tournament each in the last two years, without much success. But in 2005, he took Haase to a tiebreak and took a set off serial Brit killer Ricky Ghedin.
He plays Jonathan Gonzalia of Argentina, ranked 434 and finalist or better at four Futures in the last year, so Morgan will need to gt back to his old level to win this.
In spite of the weak qualies draw, the eighth seed here is ranked 375. The eight seed in mains/eighth seed in qualies value comes to 0.21, which I THINK is abnormally low for a Futures being played in the mainland of a country.

There's also a challenger in Italy this week so you'd have to think some of the players have chosen to try their luck at the challenger, but the qualies here is ridiculously week.
Well done to Morgan for qualifying here, but it's going to be a tough match for him to win to get another point.
Morgan has teamed up with the Italian, Mattia Livraghi, in the doubles. They play the all-German pairing of Peter Gojowczyk & Bastian Knittel (WR 1335) in the first round!
