Given that my ranking is the same as Jamie Murray's, and I've shown greater commitment to British Tennis this year by playing in 1 event in this country more than he has, but that logic I think I deserve a WC (and if the Australian TA had given me their WC for the French Open, I think I'd have done almost as well as their WC recipient did)
Murray shouldn't get one for Queens, as with only 1 spot available, there are others who would benefit it more (although I'd prefer he got it than a random foreigner).
Wimbledon though? I can see the merits of why he might be given one, and although I don't think he should get one, it wouldn't surprise if he did. (given that we already think Malisse it getting a WC, as could Ignatik and Dent, Guillermo Coria apparantly wants to play Wimbledon so that could be another WC going to a foreigner)
I hope Coria gets one, he was so entertaining today. The guy's still got the genius inside him. He faded due to lack of matches but the level he played at first couple of sets was amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather a Brit got it. But if it must be a foreigner, Coria gets my vote. I miss him lol

Someone like Bloomers has got far more chance of getting through a round at Wimby than Slick Willy Mk 1 (Coria), so giving him one really would be crazy. Still, they do like giving grass court WCs to players from country's we play DC against in the same year ...
If they're looking for someone with a media profile to give a WC too, they might as well give it to Rob Dee (or any ranked GB player) as to Jamie Murray - at least the former is trying to make it as a singles player!

Coria has a disadvantage, though - it's unlikely that he'll ever be back to the top 100. The reason AELTC, Queen's etc. dish out WCs to people who don't deserve them is because they hope they'll come back to their tournaments/speak well of it. That (at least apparently) means money, which is all they care about.
But then I seriously doubt that they're smart enough to figure out that Coria will probably not be back. After all... they gave one to Pavlyuchenkova last year *s******s at fond memory of her losing by 0 and 1*.
What makes you say Coria won't be back? From what I saw yesterday he's still got masses of ability and he must be training really hard. I see no reason he can't make it back

John, Coria needs to sort his head first. Now he is void of any sort of self belief - much like Gaudio. I also want him back - probably the only clay courter I like watching along with Ferrero.
Anyway, I just noticed that from this year, Queen's is offering more prize money, which also means more points.
This is how it compares with last year -
Round Q R1 R2 R3 QF SF FR WR
2007 10 0 10 20 55 100 155 225
2008 10 0 15 25 60 110 175 250
Now players have a better oppurtunity as it is unlikely that the field will be stronger than it already is.
I like Coria....it is a real shame he has lost his game.....although I wish he had lost it during that French Open Semi in 2004.....still pissed off about that Semi....a set and a break up and I was jumping around....but alas....
Coria would sell more tickets than Malisse and be much better to watch.

I didnt I had bets on Coria and Gaudio to win so was guarenteed to make money that year! lol

Well I hope it was a lot as I think Henman would have won that final.....in fact the real shame is that Coria ran out of gas in that fifth set which always made me wonder if Coria would have run out of gas if the match with Henman had gone 5....who knows.....I need to get over it.....
I hope it was a lot of money you won, but still I think I would have prefered seeing Henman in a Slam Final with a real chance to win over $$$$$.....but that is just me.

got to disagree with you there. from what i saw of coria the other day he still has it in him and with more match practice he could easily get top 100 again. i doubt he'll ever reach his previous heights again, but he is still a better player than quite a few of the top 100.
i was at the paylyuchnkova match last year and at that time she was severely out of her depth. but she played the french open, quallified and won a round before taking a set of flavia pennetta, which suggests she is clearly a far superior player to what she was a year ago.
jamie murray definitely does not deserve a wildcard and in my opinion very few british players do. an example needs to be set and i would be more than happy if this year the majority of the wildcards went to foreigners. the brisith players need to be taught that mediocrity is not acceptable and that they must earn the right to play at the most famous tennis tournament in the world
