Boggo hardly deserves to qualify, though. He didn't play a single warm up which was a poor move - is there anyone in the qualies draw who's playing his first clay event after a few months time?
Still, at least he gets the money and gets more time to practice on grass.
Couldn't Jamie Baker have lent his brain to Boggo while he's unable to go on court himself? (his bottle too, preferably)
Just a thought ...
Either that or Boggo and the LTA are colluding in an attempt to get Brad to run away screaming "I'll give you the rest of your money back, just let me out of here!"

i think it is clear the lta need to end the gilbert/boggo partnership. io think the only matches aklex has won when gilbert has been there asre the match in the AOQ, the sf in cherbourg and the win here. the wins in lanza and india were without gilbert and for 1 reason or another i think its clear that the partnership just isnt work. should they see how it will go on grass?
i do feel for alex, he doesnt want to lose, esp on his birthday but something needs to be done.

I don't think anybody in their right mind would believe Boggo doesn't want to win, but there must be something that could be done about this tendency to switch off when he gets a bit of a setback after being well on top in a match.
I mean, with anyone else, you see a 6-0 4-6 scoreline and you think they're definitely still in the match, perhaps even favourite to win, whereas with Boggo today, I think virtually all of us on here knew he was going to collapse in the 3rd as soon as LJ broke from 40-0 down to go 5-4 up in the 2nd.
I realise Lopez-Jaen has 'previous' here from as recently as two days ago, but I don't believe it was all him because it's happened to Alex too many times before. Having said that, as I said on AM.com at the end of the match, I could imagine the French crowd turning to LJ at the end and singing "Etes-vous Numpty Nalby dé-guis-é?"

yes its a problem, but brad doesnt seem to have the answer, in fact it almost seems worse than ever.
hopefully alex can pick him self up from this (he must eb used to it by now), none of us really expected him to do well here anyway, and perhaps if he can get a win or two (or more) in turkey and head into the grass with a bit of confidence, with a queens wc in the bag i suspect he will also get wimby and notts ones (mainly because ofthe lack of viable options i think most would agree). he cna get some good results.
he must be playing some good tennis as seen by hoose's comments and the fact he did get another bagel so perhaps he can draw on that at least.
i've had my lunch and some time to chill and my optomisim for the future returns slightly, here you go Imo have some optomisim cake to top up your store.

Alex just seems not to be a born winner I'm afraid. He's at the stage now where if you don't already have a fighting/winning mentality you're never going to have it.
