wow. That's a great result. Greece is definitely the place to be for the Brits!! Good luck to him in the final.

Well done Bammy. Great to be in a singles final having done so well in doubles this year. Hope he wins.

Crazy day with both of the top seeds getting thrashed!

SF: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 beat (2) Alex Jakupovic (GRE) WR 645 (CH 515) by 4 & 0 biggrin

FINAL: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 v Robin Roshardt (SUI) WR 934

Who'd have though Bammy would be playing in the Final against a player ranked more than 100 places below him?

In fact, it's the first Futures Final he has reached since July 2005 (and only his second ever), when he won the Tipton Future (which was weakened due to a GB Challenger being on at the same time - those were the days! smile.gif), beating 4 Brits and then Tourte in the Final. Neil's win today also snaps a streak of 6 semi-final losses over the last 3 years so it must be a big day in Bam Bam land!

I think we should petition the Greeks to run twice as many next year and force every GB player who needs some points to go there!

How will this affect his ranking? Should be a nice rise

Bamford thumbsup.gif

He's always been a very clean striker of the ball on his day, and probably had underachieved in his career, so it's great to see him having a good week like this and proves he doesn't miss a chance to win matches when the draws opens up (although he's beaten 2 good opponents in the last 2 rounds)

He should win the title and it would be a shame for him to lose now after such a s good week, especially with the doubles title behind him as well

FINAL: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 lost to Robin Roshardt (SUI) WR 934 by 6-3 7-6(5) bleh

A pity, but a really good week for Bam Bam nonetheless. A great week for Roshardt!

D'oh a tad dissapointing, but a final is nothing to be sniffed at if your ranked around the 1000 mark.

It does at least bring Neil closer to his career high again! I'll take that, thank you! biggrin.gif

Shame about the final but a great week overall! And Roshardt is quite talented, I think. Won the Orange Bowl in 2005 but has suffered a few injuries since then.
