Well, I thought Bammy's draw was jammy, but I didn't expect him to thrash a player who beat Bloomers last year 1 & 0! What a brilliant convincing win from Illingworth too!
Matt's quarter has really opened up with the no. 4 seed going out to a player ranked outside the top 1000 who then suffered a reaction to all that effort when he played Roshardt. Neil faces a player whom the Skupster beat 3 & 3 in the semis last week.
QF: Matt Illingworth WR 1023 v Robin Roshardt (SUI) WR 934 QF: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 v (3) Karlis Lejnieks (LAT) WR 654
The top 25 table will be updated with all of today's results and ranking points in the next few minutes. Hopefully some of the good results today mean that the other Brits have seen the Wardinator's results and thought to themselves, if he can do it ...

Stunning set of results from Bamford and Illingworth this week and possibly proves what we all knew all along that everyone should have gone to Greece for all 3 weeks.
Good chance of both of them making the semi's here, especially if they can keep up the form they showed in the last round
Yes, maybe not everyone, but enough to mop up all the relatively easy points that were on offer, particularly in the first couple of weeks.
I can understand players not spotting good opportunities (e.g. events with low quality fields the previous year), but not sending a big GB contingent to a set of Futures they've harvested loads of points from in the previous two years makes no sense at all.
Still, at least some of those wo are there are making the most of it.

I'm amazed with the lack of Brits this last 3 weeks in Greece!
its a great way of avoiding the clay as well as anything
I've just realised that this is only Matt's second Futures QF, and since his first was in Tipton in January (where he lost to Ken Skupski), it is his first outside the UK.

QF: Matt Illingworth WR 1023 lost to by Robin Roshardt (SUI) WR 934 by 1-6 6-4 6-2 QF: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 beat (3) Karlis Lejnieks (LAT) WR 654 by 3 & 4
SF: (7) Neil Bamford WR 799 v (2) Alex Jakupovic (GRE) WR 645 (CH 515)
Matt seems to have done a bit of a Boggo - take one game off his opponent's score in set 1 and one game off Matt's in set 3 and it matches the Boggo score exactly. Hopefully it wasn't a mega choke and he just played well in the 1st set before Roshardt woke up.
Excellent result for Bammy though who doesn't seem that consistent in singles, but is one of the best Brits at taking advantage of a really nice draw when he gets one once in a while.
This might be as far as his run goes though, because Jakupovic won this event last year, beating Wardy in the semis and Rushby in the Final, though he lost to James in January. Bammy has faced him across the net three times (all in doubles, all in Greece in 2006, 7 & 8, the last two here in Kalamata) and has been on the winning side each time.

Final BEKS (NED) / FARRON-MAHON (IRL) Vs BAMFORD (GBR) / ILLINGWORTH (GBR) (4)
Beks and Farron-Mahon have had an easy ride to the final with a w.o. and a retirement from their opponents in round 1 and the QF. But, they did see off the 3rd seeds in the SF so it might be closer than it looks.
Not a bad week for our guys in the singles either.
