Wow! Stunning win for Broady against a top 200 player. omg.gif

Hope that no one will draw Schultz-McCarthy as she's as bad as, if not better than any seed on grass. I guess the ideal scenario would be Mel getting Gajdosova and the Broadster getting Gullickson.

Not a good draw for Katie since Vania King has had a few good results on grass, although she has been very poor this year, so it's quite winnable. It sucks that our numbers 1 and 2 are in the same quarter!

So how many rounds does Katie need to win to get to the top 100?

I am copying and pasting the Count's posts out here. He's receiving scores from ForeverDelayed and is posting them in the men's section.

cavaday 64 43 with a break down (i am not sure if this means she is a set and a break down or a set up but a break down)

textyed FD, he think cava los tthe 1st set, but feels it might have gone to a 3rd.

I hope the Count is fine with me doing is! Or else tell me and I'll stop.

Not 100% as I didn't see the end of the match, but pretty much so.

She was losing 4-6, 3-4* when I left, but as the next two players names were never called over the tannoy to go to the court I assumed she'd got the break back and taken to a third.

By the time I went back to the main courts to watch her 'third set' and Keovathong's matches, Cavaday wasn't on court and the following match had played a few games.

So... either she lost, produced an amazing turnaround to win 9 games in about 20 minutes, or there was a retirement... but the first is much more likely.

Keovathong was 4-6, 3-2* down against Elliott when play was suspended.

And poor old Schultz-McCarthy is still playing in qualifying - she was *5-2 up in the first set when the rain came

I watched the Broady and Smith matches on Sunday, it was worth hanging on that late, despite it getting really cold.

The Broady Voegele match always depended on what Naomi was doing. She was the stronger player; what a lovely backhand :) Voegele I can see probably has a neat, tidy game, but she seemed really very ordinary, with no major weapons. Got a bit worried when the score line- went from 5-1 to 5-4 in the first set! Yes, Naomi served for it twice, but then broke to take it.

In the second set, you couldn't really fault Naomi's serving, there were several aces/ unreturnables :) Voegele had maybe only 1 bp. Naomi had 2 chances to break at 4-3, but eventually took it.

Voegele was a bit of a grumpy thing. And didn't seem to cope with any disctractions. She double faulted a couple times when there was background noise, where as Naomi stayed pretty focused.

Smith played fantastically in the first set. She was striking the ball fantastically and with great accuracy. She went down 2-0 early on, and was shocked to see her storm back and take the first set against a more experienced player. Thereafter her level dropped just a small amount, but gajdosova was on it, and the second set was over in a flash. The final set was much in the same vain and jarmila seemed to be upping her game. For Anna, it's all about maintaing the level, which she clearly she IS capable of plaing at.

I think that Anna was muttering to herself in Swedish.
