If you are basing your conclusions on the one match you saw then perhaps that didn't show Anne at her best (or perhaps it did and you were still underwhelmed). For example I saw Amelie Mauresmo fail to keep a ball in court against Francesca Schiavone in Moscow in 2005, if I were to base my evaluation of Mauresmo on that match I'd have said she was completely overrated, shouldn't really be top 50 or even top 100, and the fact that she won slams after the event would have been shocking to me. Fortunately I have seen Amelie play live subsequently and on TV and know that she is a player of fluctuating ability that is linked to her tempermant and recognise that she isn't overrated, just unpredictable. Now I'm not saying that Anne has the talent of a Mauresmo on an 'on' day, but I'm saying that she might be capable of more than you have seen.


it was the first time i saw her play in the flesh, but i have seen her play on tv at eastbourne and wimbledon before. seeing her play at surbiton merely confirmed my view of her

i've never read anything about the GB women in the press. maybe thats because they never achieve anything.

and by the way, i'm 19, not 20
