There's always a fairly strong field here. I love this event :) I would absolutely love to go here again :)
I think a fair few will pull out though. I think Anne was seeded 7th one year and she was ranked lower than she currently is so, fingers crossed for a few withdrawals to get Bally and Mel in!
There'll be a fair few wildcards for our girls though of course...
Many of our girls have unfinished business against Kerber! I don't think she has played a Challenger in GB since she thumped four of our top players in two weeks.
I guess the cut will drop a lot from here and the qualies cut will drop enough to ensure that almost everyone gets in.
Elena and Mel have now moved up to the Main draw while Naomi C, Sarah, Anna F, Amanda, Georgie, Anna S and Elizabeth T have moved into the qualifiers. 2nd, 3rd and 4th Alts are Katharina, Naomi B and Yasmin.
There are a number of interesting prospects here. Jocelyn Rae has surprised a number of higher ranked players so I am hoping she can win a round or two. Katharina Brown and Yasmin Clarke have been improving this year and might make it through qualifying. Georgie Stoop and Amanda Elliott could do with a couple of wins to continue their progress towards a top 200 place. A good run would establish Mel in the top 150. Anne and Katie need to win through to the later stages to establish themselves in the top 100. Good runs by any of the girls could earn them Wild Cards at Eastbourne, Birmingham and Wimbledon.
Jennifer might yet get into the qualifying tournament, she is now only 7 out and Natasha Khan is only one place short of entering the qualifiers without the need of a Wild Card.
