Junior Wimbledon Wildcards

Does anyone have any insightful input as to who the LTA are likely to award Junior Wimbledon wildcards to this year, both in the boys and girls? I understand that Junior Wimbledon is an ITF event but will they be guided by ITF ranking to choose or ATP/WTA points?
Any views would be greatly appreciated.

Probably a mixture of both.

Players like Naomi Broady, Yasmin Clarke, Katerina Brown who have decent WTA ranks will probably get WC's.

In case Cox and Evans are unlucky and miss the direct cut, they are sure to get them. That would be both unfair and incorrect, though. Unfair because by now they should be making the cuts and obviously incorrect because they should be playing the Futures in Ireland that week. I suppose that Angus, Smethurst and Pauffley are guaranteed wild cards as are Robson and Tara Moore.

And please, don't waste WCs on 1990 and 1991 born girls. 1990 born people are too old to be playing Juniors and if you're 1991 born and are not top 50, you have no future in Juniors anyway. The WC for Anna Fitzpatrick last year did her more harm than good.

Anyway, irrespective of whether Cox and Evans get in, I'd like to see the WCs at both Roehampton and Wimbledon go to -

Boys....

Angus
Smethurst
Pauffley
Knights
James
Marsalek
Carpenter
Play off

Girls...

Moore
Robson
Jennifer Ren
Watson
Gabb
Amy Askew
Jessica Ren at Roehampton and Bayliss at Wimbledon
Play off

That'll never happen, of course. And also expect a few non-Brits to get them at Wimbly.

Thank you! Your thoughts were very helpful. I think it's good that the LTA are keen on giving this amazing oportunity to young up-comers.

I am more or less sure that in case he asks for it, he's going to get it but I really don't want him to get one.

It'll just be a waste of a card - there's no point in giving an unranked player a wild card unless he/she is very young or has a very good chance of getting to the finals. Ward doesn't fit into either category and it'll just be taking an opportunity from a person who could put it to good use.

In any case, Ward is far better off playing Futures and there's no need for him to waste his time playing these pointless tournaments (pointless for him, that is, not for everyone!).

Speaking of Wimbledon, the entry list should be out today or tomorrow.

I agreee re. Alex - he seems to have givne the OTF junior tournaments a miss up to now, so why revert back when he could be gaining Futures points that will be far more useful to him in the long run.
