Thanks for the great report, FD - your description of Boggo's performance brought a smile to my face too. Sounds like he was playing as well as when he carried Safin through a tough doubles match I saw at Queen's last year and looked like the best player on court by some distance.

If only he could sort his head out, but hopefully this (and doing it in front of all the important people (*)) will have given him a much-needed mental boost.

(*) i.e. you and sheddie wink

Boggo-Levy quick preview

Levy, whom Boggo plays tomorrow, is a former top 30 player, of course, but Boggo has good memories of playing him, even on outdoor hard, having beaten him 3 & 2 in the semi-finals of the Valencia Challenger last year, which he went on to win. Since then he has beaten Josh in three sets on grass and Wardy in straights, but if Boggo plays anything like the way he did today ...

thnaks for the reports FD, and a great job on the texts. if you are going tomorrow i should be able to update here again.

as for boggo i think you highlighted an issue: Zevrev doesnt play a power game so alex can handle it. its the brute force guys that alex just cant cope with.

Possibly.... and thinking about it his best win last year was Hyung-Taik Lee who doesn't hit the ball that hard so we could be onto something here...

Don't know whether I go tomorrow yet.... I'd like to but may have too much other stuff on, and if I go I'll only stay for the singles matches.

i am almost certain it is, he has complained in that past that he lost macthes just to pure strength, not because the other guy was a better player. he is working on his strength, but it is hard as in the middle of the season you still have matches to play

All matches were played on the 6 outdoor acrylic courts at surbiton.....identical surface to the aussie open.......the brit players looked so comfortable on them, having probably practised on them all year....the results reflect that !

At Surbiton? confused

oh this is a fun competition smile.gif (btw, if you do manage to post it, it might be worth replacing the ?s with the real scores now that we know them and removing the TBC, assuming it is Kulikova whom Mel is due to play)

er ... Broad / Erakovic sounds a bit dodgy wink / Klepac ... no  ,seriously I haven't a clue. None of it got starred out on AM.com, which stars out part of one of the pick 'em entrants' names that doesn't get censored on any of the other boards, so it's a real mystery.

YES SLABBA! YOU BEAUTY!

That was a really important win because although Okun was woefully short of wins in the last 9 months, Slabba still had to fight for it and has a good scalp on his CV now...

I think the surface change favoured Slabba big time! It might not be so helpful against Dancevic, but Slabba's confidence must be high now!

Thanks for the reports lads!

Is anyone there today???

Sally from AM.com is at the women's event in Surbiton and will be texting results from there, I don't know if anyone is in Roehampton.

By the way, did either FD or the Shed manage t do or sit in on any player interviews yesterday, or were there no arrangements for anything like that?

Interesting problem count - you didnt mistype your name did you? biggrin

Which BBC board were you posting on?
Try posting top half first and if that fails then bottom half - I presume you can edit it afterwards?
then quarters etc.
