RE: Week 23 - Surbiton Trophy [$ 50K] 2008.

Jonny lost 4 & 4 sadly.

Was 52 down with 2 breaks then broke back to get it back to 54 , then had 2 bp's to make it 55, couldnt take them and Dancevic won.

Evidently Jonny's playing pretty well, and so nothwithstanding the disappointment he should be in reasonable fettle for the summer.

Elsewhere bamford beat Eaton in three, Bopanna beat Armitraj and Okun led Fischer 54 on serve.

Shame about Marray and Kash's losses. cry.gif But it was a good scoreline for Jonny against someone who has so recently been in the top 100.

If it's done by the old method then Fischer is in the main draw regardless of what happens in his match - if he loses he gets the LL, but if he wins then Amritraj gets the LL spot.

Shame that Marray lost but not entirely unexpected given Dancevic's class - did well to come back in the 2nd though and looks like he could have gotten level again, but at least he's playing well again and with a nice draw could qualify for Queens/Nottingham/Wimbledon.

Told you Bamford would beat Eaton in what sounds to be a very close match - hope Eaton gets in as a LL though, and that Bamford gets a nice draw, although I don't know what would be best (Stadler, Slabba???)

At the moment it would go to (3)Amritraj unless (2)Fischer goes on to lose in which case he will get it.
That is in accordance with current ATP rules.

Weather forecast looks very hopeful for tomorrow so I will be going

FD, with both of us being britishtennis.net reporters I think we count as media and should be able to sneak into the NTC aswell if it rains again tomorrow and play is moved there.......we have a good relationship with the LTA so I'll email Paul Hutchins/Roger Draper tonight to check on that

should be the case as our reporters can get press accreditation for ATPs and Davis Cup through this website so we do count as media

Goodall and Bogdanovic have first matches Wednesday 11.00 (????) on courts 2 and 4 repectively.

Baghdatis vs Fischer follows Boggo on 4

It states quite clearly -
ALL MATCHES to be played atThe NATIONAL TENNIS CENTRE,Roehampton on Outdoor Acrylic

I'd be shocked if they kept the media away, and surprised about spectators as well, as seeing as it is a tennis complex, you'd think that they'd let people watch, even if there were no seats and had to stand behind the court fences or something like that.

And why aren't they using the grass courts? If it's because they didn't bother to cover them when they know Surbiton has no covers, or they have no covers, then that is idiotic, pathetic, and something that is just down right disgraceful.

If our multi-million pound tennis centre doesn't have covers for outdoor courts, especially grass, or they didn't bother to, then someone hasn't got a clue what they are doing and the situation needs looking at.

Fair play to him for fighting hard though against Okun as he lost in a 3rd set TB, but would have known in the 1st set than he was already in the main draw as a LL, so must have really wanted the extra 2 points for qualifying.

Shame he drew Baghdatis in the end as he deserved something better for not tanking like I'd have expected him to.

Slabba gets Okun while Bamford gets Anderson... not great draws for either of the, especially Bamford.

And why would you schedule the Brits to play at the same time? Goodall and Boggo are on first, while Slabba and Bamford at both 5th on. Surely the spectators would want to cheer on the British players and so having them all on the same court would be the best way to do this, rather than splitting the support and meaning we can't watch both matches.

Interesting and very frustrating findings about the matches being played at the NTC again, is this for sure?

As for the OOP, its a real bummer the youngsters I wanted to see are all on at 11am: Nishikori, Zverev, Kuznetsov.

I guess this explains why Baghdatis is on court 4!! I wondered wtf they were thinking putting the superstar on a tiny court. So I guess this does mean its at Roehampton for sure.

This is a total joke, it now means I have wasted a £70 7 day travelcard for the week. God knows how I'm going to get there without paying a whole new ticket, as my travelcard is only good for Surbiton/clapham junction. So I wonder if I can get an additional ticket for Clapham Junction to London Victoria and then get the tube? Obviously don't want to pay £27 (for that time of day) for a return to Victoria. Any ideas on what my possible options are, and what are you doing FD?
