RE: Live Rankings: Going forward

thanks Steven - yep that "away for 2 weeks and can't face the backlog" rings a lot of bells :)

Looks like there's no enthusiasm for a more team- based effort.

I think Mad's still monitoring the top end of things, so maybe she can help out with Andy's ranking during the grand slams and masters events.

OK, well thank- you all for your thanks and best wishes, and I'm going to get myself more of a life biggrin.gif

Yes, I do keep track of Andy's section of the table; I do it for my own benefit. What I am not good at is all the "what if's", especially early on in a tournament.

I already have a thread called something like "Andy's ranking in 2008" where I update the first post every Monday when the ATP rankings are published. I was thinking I could post in there when the "ifs" get down to manageable size - just a brief statement of the current situation; but I will not be able to do it until partway through the French Open as I am off on my holidays at the weekend and won't be back until RG has started.

Rob, I usually wait until the ATP rankings come out on Mondays and then check each individual player for points defended, 18th 19th and 20th scores. If you could select say the top 50 or 100 players and let me have a copy of your spreadsheets, that would probably save me some time. No hurry - as I say I'm away for 10 days from Sunday.

I'm ready to volunteer to keep it up to date, but I have a problem - I cannot do it every week. If we find some more people something could be done.

I can do the "what ifs" just for Andy almost every week, though. In case it is needed...

Been away for a couple of days and come back to this sad news - though excellent news for Rob and those close to him, I would think!

I just want to add my thanks to Rob (and his team) for the pleasure-of-information they've given me during my time on the board - enjoy your new life, Rob!

Me too - great job and always valued these tables, particularly during the major tournaments. I don't think I could keep it up, unfortunately, as I'm constantly on the move and don't always have internet access. Maybe next year when I expect to be back in the UK?

Can I second, third, fourth and fifth etc.. all the thanks and praise for your work Rob.

I too, encountered a season in my life where I scared myself with how much of my life and time was taken up by this messagebaord and tenis general and TOTALLY understand where you're coming from.

For that reason I can't consent to helping keep it going though I will miss it very much.

I hope you still come here and post sometimes. Your insight would be otherwise much missed.

Come on British Tennis!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the fact that you and I post less here than a year back means that Sheddie is still the post count leader. cry.gif

True.

I doubt that I'll catch him now unless I can usurp power. He's a good 11500 posts ahead of me and even if I keep on cutting it by 100 a week, I'll take more than two years to do it!

I guess this is the thread that discourages you from even aiming at it.

Don;t let the messageboard rule your life is a good mantra.
