Ward plays at 4pm local time on court 5.

I might phone / email for the result.

Fantastic stuff!

Well done son

I'd like to see players like Smethurst and Milton basing themselves in Spain, its the place to be!

Tenispain's Balaguer tournament home page still says it's J Ward playing here. LOL

At least 99% - it says Alexander on all the official drawsheets and James would have been seeded.

Well if it was James he would have been the top seed in qualifying.

Here's the detail:

SF: (Q) Alexander Ward UNR beat (7) Jordi Marse-Vidri (ESP) WR 596 by 3-6 6-4 7-6(1) biggrin

FI: (Q) Alexander Ward UNR v David Diaz-Ventura (ESP) WR 683

In the week he won his first Futures main draw match, Alex has reached an ITF Final a full year younger than Tigger Henman did! biggrin

Alex now plays the double Dee-stroyer in the Final. In fact, Diaz-Ventura thrashed David Rice 1 & 2 in R1 here, his second straight sets win against him this year, he has also beaten James Ward 2 & 2 this year, as well as beating a couple of other Brits in straights and double bagelling Rob Dee. I can't work out why his ranking isn't higher and he isn't seeded, but he has never been higher-ranked than he is now.

What a great run!

The double Dee-stroyer was also a Rice destroyer, A James Ward destroyer, A Smethurst Beater and a Brown detroyer. A tough call.

But reaching a final like this is, is exceptional! Wardy!

Wow. That's fantastic. He has to finish the week off now by winning the title. Be brilliant if this is the start of a big career. I will be following this one with great interest.

You're not easily satisfied are you wink - I know what you mean though, what a fairytale that would be. DDV had a much easier match today though, dropping just 2 games.
