ouch, that's a tough final qualies round match.....remember Poltoratskaya from some clay futures in Britain last year, she was winning everything in sight.....rated as having good top 100 potential
Tough first round for Katie, didn't Schaul used to be top 100 ?

In fact Schaul was top 50, having won a WTA Tour clay court event in Strasbourg, beating Lindsay Davenport in the final. However she has struggled with injury in the last 2 years, and retired last week, so it is probably a good time to play her.
Amanda and Katie play doubles together later today.
Great QR3 victory-but not very kind draw. Ah, it is a 75K.must be expected. There were 6 worse opponents in the draw ..... (well, in ranking terms at least)
Well done Amanda! Anne qualified for Strasbourg (WTA Tier 3) in 2006, which is the only other time I can think of when a Brit qualified for a tournament at this level or higher on clay this decade. Kremer is I think a good draw, because it will give her valuable experience of playing a Tour level player to gauge where her game is at.
Amanda and Katie won their doubles by the unusual score of 1-0 default All three play their singles tomorrow.
