RE: Rome AMS Inter-Board Pick 'em Competition

ah. yeah, that could become a problem. but it'll depend on what everyone else's picks look like.

After 11 matches, the three players in 1= are all from BT (Josh, Imoen, The Hoose). BT are leading the teams competition and Count Zero is two points clear of Sheddie.

Any other details can be found at www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html but i think I've covered all the important stuff wink.gif

Updates to the web will happen after almost every match so it's worth checking there.

This is good fun and I should have tried it before given how little time it takes (I made all my picks in like 150 seconds).

Kudos to the organisers as the stats, rankings etc. are what really makes this interesting.

I've lost out a lot on Llodra as I had him beating Roddick after the Fish called Mardy. But I think I'll do better than how bad I normally do in prediction competitions given that I've got rid of my long standing philosophy for once - every title must be won by a Brit and Nadal has to lose his first match. ashamed.gif

So the end of the day and 14 matches completed. Full update at the usual place: www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html

We have two leaders at the moment, Josh and The Hoose both from BT. Both getting 12/14 right. (I would've been there with them if I hadn't stupidly picked Safin to win. bleh!). A further 13 entrants are in 3= with 11/14. Only 9 players are now in the gorilla's cage, which is pretty impressive after a day that started with the most Dammit moment in pickem history.

BT are also dominating the teams competition, over 0.5 ahead of second placed Tennis4You. Down the bottom half of the table positions have been changing after every match but the day ends with CentreCourt bringing up the rear, just behind AM.com separated by only 0.04 so it's far from over.

In terms of personal battle updates:

Count Zero leads Sheddie by 2 points
Imoen(Me!!) leads Steven by a single point (jumping.gif - not that I'm gloating or anything)
Daisy(Sally) leads King Kong by 3 points (poor ole Kong is desperately missing his Queen, but he's confident it will only be a short separation having seen the remainder of Sally's picks wink.gif)
Racy and Roberta are neck and neck on 10 each.
BalaK is leading the RoastLamb family battle.

well after a few pickems lulling the opposition into a false sense of security we thought it was high time we reclaimed our rightful position at the top of the leaderboard. wink.gif

What with Horna winning again as well, it's been an odd day so far. Given how the regular stars of the Muppet Show (Dammit, PHM, etc) have been doing their stuff so far in this tournament, it's hardly a surprise that Numpty went and lost. grrrrr

However, head muppet Gonzo survived again today.

Gonzo and the Undertaker winning (pretty predictable, you'd think) has allowed the Dammitaires to slash your lead right down - Bethan went down from 13= to 92= in just two matches, surely some kind of record, John has dropped out of the top 10 and the Count and Sheddie have jointly parachuted down 49 to 96=. Oops!

The fun thing is every match having more riding on it. Going to watch Blake vs Seppi I have a quick check. Who did I pick to win this match again? Oh right, Santoro. biggrin

The one time, just the one time in my life I don't pick Nadal to lose his first round match. And guess what? He's about to lose his first match. If I had done my normal thing, I could have made a real killing as everyone else has Nadal beating Ferrero.

Murphy's Law at its best.
