Murray & Max Seek Consistency

From the Herald :

Simon Cambers
Jamie Murray believes he and his doubles partner Max Mirnyi must start adding consistency to their game in order to compete for major titles on a regular basis.

The pair, who teamed up at the beginning of the year, it ninth in the race to reach the season-ending Masters Cup, for the top eight teams of the year.

"I think we know we can play well and beat the best teams but you've got to do it regularly," Murray said in Barcelona, where he and the Belarusian were beaten in the second round by Spaniards Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco. "There's no point in doing it once every six months, because that's not really getting you anywhere."

The pair won their first title in Delray Beach, Florida, in February, beating the world's top two, American twins Bob and Mike Bryan, in the final, and Murray said Mirnyi was having a positive influence on his own game. "It's been fun; We've enjoyed it. We've been a bit inconsistent with results but I think that was not necessarily down to us so much, just sometimes the way matches go with the scoring system.

"We get on well. Max is a great professional and he tries to help me whenever he can. He's a very positive guy and I think that's going to rub off on me. It playing with him has been a good experience for me and I hope we can continue to play well and try to improve our results."

The pair intend to play in the Masters Series event in Rome next week as they build towards the French Open, a tournament Mirnyi won twice with the Swede Jonas Bjorkman.
