RE: Week 19 - Womens ITF (50K + H) - Jounieh, Lebanon

Yippee. Well done Annie. What a week for our girls and now a DA for Wimbly. Whatever our girls are on it's certainly working. Is it just me ot are things steadily on the up for our women. It looks that way to me.

Fantastic! w00t.gif

If Anne gets into the top 100 I might even start watching women's tennis. . .

Yay. Could be near top seed in qualies for RG?

A 50K +H win is amongst her biggest, and to do it on clay is great.

Whatever the girls have in their water right now, can we put some in to the guys too?

Great stuff Anne.

I think its shown how neglected the women have been under previous regimes at the LTA. All our top 5 have imporved. And another group of 4/5 are on their way to joining them aswell.

Our Lads could certainly do with some of the girl's fortunes although it is quite nice to see the ladies taking centre stage for a change. Be great if Anne could qualify for the French Open. Does anyone know if she will get a direct entry into Edgbaston and Eastbourne?

I think with the LTA it was all Henman and Rusedski for so long. The women didn't get a look in.

Will be interesting to see where she'll be at the start of next week with pts off. I suspect that she'll be within the top 100.

SHe should be 103 with 338 ranking points. She will need about 342 to get into the top 100.

Yeah, but I mean in that updated ranking thread, at the start of the week he always takes off the points which players are defending that week. Will be interesting to see where Anne is compared to the other players because it is likely that 3 players just above her are defending points which are in their best 17 (or 18, w.e) tours.

It gives her a feed-up into s'Hertogenbosch, which would probably be the better option for Anne. A good draw, some good points... she's not the GREATEST of grass-court players but she has won a round at Wimby once before (which does count for something) and she's often done well at Surbiton too so the only real problem is the cost; i.e. flight to and from Holland, accommodation, etc, etc.

She may not take it of course but I think she'd be better off doing so.

Birmingham, a tier III usually has a DA cut off around 90-100. She might get in as a DA, but not very likely.

Eastbourne, being tier II, is around 60. No chance of being a DA.

I would hope that if she has earnt a DA into s'Hertgenbosch, she would not be given a WC to Eastbourne, so another player can use it!

I remember in 2004 when Anne battered Pratt and was seriously challenging Sharapova til the rain come... She played some great grasscourt tennis then. She looks to be back up to that level and above and since Lexington, her whole career has really turned around for her. I hope she can make up these three places very soon so that the pressure is completely off Anne. She'll finally be able to re-adjust her goals and be even more ambitios. This is a really exciting time for Anne.
