I hope that you won't mind too much if I make a small suggestion about the format for your consideration. I'm one of those people who really struggle to plough through long (or longish) documents on a computer screen. At work I almost invariably print 'em off before I can do anything else with 'em! Given the small default size of the font on this board, it would make your precious despatches from the front line of tennis much less of a visual challenge for my poor, ageing eyes (yes, I do wear specs!) if you were to insert a space between your paragaphs.
Sorry, Lynne, I take your point.
The problem is that I'm long-winded (or so I have been told by certain contributors more eminent than I), which means that once or twice, I've had posts refused on the grounds of being o'er long. I realised that yesterday's was going to be lengthy, so deliberately chose not to space my paragraphs, just in case.
However, in future - provided I remember! - I'll write in spaced paragraphs, resorting to unspaced ones only if the post is refused.
No apology necessary, I assure you. I was just being selfish! I have to say, though, that I, for one, don't find your reports long-winded in the slightest! The extra detail merely puts "flesh" on the "bare bones" of the basic narrative & adds to my appreciation of the event you're covering in a way I don't feel I get from ordinary newspaper reports. In a word, they're more personal & all the more enjoyable for it! As for the length, have you not considered splitting them into two to avoid refusal?

Just think of the flack I'd get for that! 'Can't even fit your post into the one submission!' - might raise another wee storm which Madeline would feel she had to referee!
Splitting, of course, is what I've had to do with some of the Laureates - tournament winners or career highs.
Glad you enjoyed the wee pun - thought it would be to your style, as well as Bethan's.
From DJ by text - same caveat as for the women's scores!
