RE: Week 19 - Futures F8 (15k) - Edinburgh, GB

Thanks DJ for an excellent report - it felt like I was almost there!

Evans sounds very promising and Gee clearly rose to the occasion, but the most interesting bit was your description of Edward's match - I'd never have imagined the things you wrote about having just seen the score. I guess he just enjoys playing that way and as you say, if he can add a bit more control maybe he has the potential to go far after all. IT worked for Tsonga! (ok, Tsonga's still a muppet on clay, but it worked for him on other surfaces)

The tennis centre sounds lovely btw!

Big thanks for the report, DJ! Great work there and I particularly enjoyed the reports on Gee and Evo.

Anyone else notice that the LTA have hit rock bottom with this event, with no results (apart from qualies) or OOP?
Even Tennis Scotland is still only showing Tuesday order of play but then links to the LTA for the non-existing results pages.

Thank goodness for BBC results and those reporting here, otherwise Edinburgh might well have been on Mars.

What a diabolical way to promote tennis.

By the way ITF do have results but of course not OOP, why do we have to search to find these results?

Edit
Was it coincidence that within 1/2 hour of my email to TS & Roger Draper LTA site shows results, draws and OOP and TS remove old oop?

Cheers for the report DJ, very descriptive! Will you be going to the centre at any other point during the week?

Probably not a coincidence! You're right, the results 'service' hit a new low - I seem to remember the qualifying draw appearing on tenniseurope relatively early at the weekend, but when I checked late last night, the LTA and ITF main draw links didn't even show the draw let alone any results. The results were updated on TE this morning at 08.20 CET, 12 hours after all the other tournaments.

Thank you for an excellent report DJ, it brings bach memories of your first post smile.gif

Sounds like you got to watch some super tennis, I'm rather envious!! And your description of the way each of our boys play is really appreciated, it's never a bad thing to understand what went on behind the scoreline. Thank you again.

Thanks, Steven, Greenleaf, James and Bethan for those kind words; I hope to be there for Thursday, other commitments permitting. If someone who's hereabouts all day could pm a phone number, I could text scores from time to time for posting.

Great! I love it when we have scores at Futures events. Thanks, DJ, Steven and Drew.

If possible, find out about the Cox-Evo match, Drew. It'll be hours before the BBC post them.

Thanks for a very comprehensive report, Derek.  Very atmospheric! painter.gif  I hope, however, that you won't mind too much if I make a small suggestion about the format for your consideration.  I'm one of those people who really struggle to plough through long (or longish) documents on a computer screen.  At work I almost invariably print 'em off before I can do anything else with 'em!  Given the small default size of the font on this board, it would make your precious despatches from the front line of tennis much less of a visual challenge for my poor, ageing eyes (yes, I do wear specs!) if you were to insert a space between your paragaphs. wink
