Well, Bethan, Drew's talking about shooting birdies - he got 74 of them, mainly wee ones, but probably including an eagle or two, possibly even an albatross! Bloodthirsty, barbaric, Scot with an inferiority complex that he is!
On the other hand, if you focus on the first and last words, you'll get a wee clue as to what he 'achieved'.
Gosh, I always knew I didn't understand the rules of golf but it seems I was even more ignorant than I knew if it includes birdies.
The 'I...won' bit didn't pass me by, I believe that means he ended somewhat better than his opponents (please correct me if I'm wrong). It was more the specifics that I failed to grasp. But I now know it means he had a very very good dinner. So may i increase my congratualtions Drew, I hope you've saved a few of the birds to eat later, I think eagles taste much better after hanging for a few days.

Just to put ur mind at ease Bethan no foul endangered or otherwise was eaten by me !
My 74 was the least amount of shots i have taken around 18 holes. My handicap of 14 (in simple terms i normaly hit 14 strokes over the 'par' of the course) is taken away and gave me a net score of 60. The nearest score to mine was a 62. That meant i won !

You're almost there, Bethan, but it's lies that hang in golf, not eagles. Good job it's lies and not liars, though, otherwise club houses, like river banks, would be full of gibbets.
