The Count has suggested that despite the disappearance of the card I sent from some of us to Castelldefells for a certain Mr Dee, maybe we should try again by sending one to Jamie.
(Lest anyone thinks we're going as soft as AM.com here and are going to start sending group cards at the drop of a hat, I'm envisaging us limiting this kind of thing to GB players who are particularly popular on here and who may be about to break obscure world records or are recovering from life-threatening illnesses, so I very much hope that won't mean too often! )
Since we started pm'ing about this, there has been a clamour on AM.com for them to do something like this too, and the Count rashly let on that we had already been thinking of doing the same.
It would probably be nicer if he gets separate ones from each site, even if they end up in the same envelope, so I've agreed to try to get ours done and find out exactly where to send it (which won't be hard, but I want to do it after the cards are sorted out so that he doesn't have time to move on to somewhere else in the meantime!), while thanks to his rashness and similar spelling standard to some of the AM.com kids, the poor old Count has drawn the short straw of being appointed to organise the other rabble by the omnipotent (if very sweet) Sally on AM.com. (sorry Count! )
(I'm not sure whether I'm going to get in more trouble when the Count reads this or when some of the AM.commers do )
Anyway, if you'd like to be a part of this, please post on here or pm me to let me know if you would like me to add you to the card, and also let me know your real name (if you want me to put that on there and it's not obviouis from your nickname) and a short message. The last two things there are entirely optional, but for each person, I'll write on the card that it is from BT.net and, for each person, any or all of:
"Get well soon, mate
David [+/- Cox] (sheddie)"
I'll see how it goes and how many people want to use real names and/or add messages before deciding exactly how to lay out the card. Also, if all messages are virtually the same, I'll pick the best-phrased one and use it for the whole card instead.
Deadline: Sunday, I think, then we can sort it all out over the bank holiday.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
It was a shock to read of Jamies plight ( thread http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=61841&p=3&topicID=16896036 ) but good to see that he is on the road to recovery. Although 7 hours later no one else has added their names here I am sure that everyone wishes Jamie well and look forward to his continued succes in British tennis.
I have PM'd you Steven, but just thought I had better add that I don't think "Get well soon mate" sounds quite right from an elderly female! However I am not really bothered. He won't know I am ancient.
"Attitude, Determination and Focus....that seems to sum you up Jamie Baker. I hope you will be back to full health sooner rather than later. The tennis can wait for now. But I do hope to see you wearing a GB top again winning another Davis Cup tie."
I was intending to send a card myself; however, I think a mob-handed one is an excellent idea - thank you, Steven. Drew's message expresses everything I would want to say; please add me - 'Derek Jones, Lauder'
See mjd/Count, it was just because people were asleep. I've had a handful of pms as well - mainly people wanting to put their full name on but not wanting it to appear on here, which is the main reason I suggested pming me as one of the possibilities.
Akhenaten - yes it is good news that it's not as serious as it could have been, but there are lots of conflicting rumours, varying from the seemingly fanciful 'maybe he'll be back for Queen's' to the downright scary 'maybe he'll never play again'.
The consensus seems to be 3-6 months out, but whether some estimates are too long due to people like the LTA trying to lower expectations to take the pressure off (which is fair enough) or some are too short due to people trying to be as positive and optimistic as possible is anybody's guess. Most likely, it's too early for anyone to really have any idea yet.
, though what's very, very odd is that the LTA still haven't even mentioned it in the news section of thir site - is there some new LTA policy to suppress news that can be seen as at all negative?)
